WE HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE SAFE ๐
We are aware of the devastation left by the hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Please know there are several avenues to seek support.
We sincerely hope the information in this newsletter can support you and your family with resources.
INFORMATION ABOUT FEMA DENIALS
If you claimed NO property damage and applied to FEMA due to food loss and got an automatic denial, here is some info for you:
EVERYBODY that applies to FEMA and reports NO property damage will get that instant denial, but it is only denial due to the property damage part. The application still goes for food loss, has, personal hygiene, etc. It is just pending in the background.
There may be up to a $750 reimbursement from FEMA for the food loss. It can take up to 7 days to process fully. So please DON'T be discouraged.
Make sure to call FEMA and speak with a rep to confirm that your food loss report is pending in the background. The rep said that once approved, the status will change again, and you may receive a correspondence letter on that site when you log in, or you'll get a letter in the mail if you opted for that.
It is just confusing people with their wording. We will get through this.
FEMA: 1-800-621-3362 (Website below)
Families can also use food stamps card to purchase hot food until Nov. 15 in participating stores.
Friendly reminder to carved some time for selfcare ๐
Self-care is crucial for maintaining physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Particularly during and after stressful and challenging situations.
It helps prevent burnout, reduces stress, and improves overall quality of life.
By prioritizing selfcare, you ensure that you have the energy and mindset to handle daily challenges more effectively.
Hereโs why self-care is essential:
Mental Health: Taking time for yourself reduces anxiety and depression, and boosts mood.
Physical Health: Regular exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate rest improve your overall health.
Productivity: When you're well-rested and happy, your productivity increases.
Resilience: Selfcare helps you become more resilient in facing life's challenges.
How to prioritize selfcare:
Schedule Time: Treat self-care like an important appointment. It does not have to be elaborated! A simple moment to relax will do!
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to overcommitments.
Practice Mindfulness: Engage in activities like meditation, contemplation or deep breathing.
Stay Active: Regular exercise is key to both physical and mental health.
Connect with Others: Maintain healthy social interactions.
