Message from Mrs. Sheppard
Happy Friday!
We have been really working hard on our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) every day at Graham. We have four rules that we follow every single day at Graham. They are:
- Be Responsible
- Be Respectful
- Be Safe
- Be Kind
See if your child can tell you those rules. We have been reviewing EVERY day on announcements how we follow these rules in different areas of the building. It is very important that we teach our students the proper way to behave at school. We focus on the right way of doing things and giving them DOJO points for following the expectations. Students are then able to use their DOJO points in our school store at the end of the month. Hopefully you have seen them getting points while they are here at school on your DOJO. If you are still not connected to your child's class, please let me know so I can help you with that. It is our MAIN form of communication!!!
This week in the Positivity Project we will be discusing the character strength of Other People Mindset-Being Present and giving others my attention. Please read the letter and talk about this trait with your family during the week to reinforce what we are talking about in school. Being Present means when we are with other people, we are present and give them our full attention.
Please feel free to email me with questions you might have and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Have a wonderful weekend!

Free breakfast and lunch EVERY DAY!!!
Students in WWCSD receive FREE breakfast and lunch EVERY day at Graham. There are several students that bring a lunch to school and then also want to get in line and get another lunch. While they are entitled to do that, they end up having so much food that they are overwhelmed and cannot finish. If students are bringing a lunch to school and you do NOT want them getting another lunch, please talk to them about this so we are not throwing out full lunches.
No FAST FOOD for lunch
Please refrain from bringing in FAST FOOD for your child for lunch. All students are welcome to bring a lunch from home OR get our FREE lunch that is served every day to them at Graham.
Free Fruit and Vegetable Program
All students at Graham receive Free Fruits and Vegetables for a snack in the afternoon a couple of times per week. Typically, these are fruits and veggies that they may not have tried before. You can see the picture below for the month of NOVEMBER to see what fruits and veggies they will be trying out!
Room Parent: We are still looking for several parents to take on the ROOM PARENT role. You would be in charge of helping get volunteers for classroom parties, things for the classroom that the teacher might need, etc. Please let your child's teacher or Mrs. Sheppard know if you are interested on this!
We are missing parents for the following teachers:
Ms. Hanlon
Ms. Held
Ms. Taylor
Ms. Williams
Ms. Burrows
Ms. Nordeen
Ms. Beaty
Ms. Gutt
Ms.Jacobs
Ms. Griffith
Ms. Widrig
Ms. Gamble
Ms. Green
Mr. Owenby
Ms. Closser
Ms. Clemons
Ms. Vandoorne
As you can see, we are missing SEVERAL parents to be a room parent in these classrooms. The job is not too tough. It would just be helping the teacher organize sign ups for class parties, the Spring Carnival Basket, and maybe some other small things. Please reach out to me if you would like to take on this volunteer job.
PBIS Fundraiser ๐๐ค๐ค
The Staff at Graham are holding a Spirit Wear Fundraiser to raise money to support our PBIS program. Once a month, our school store goes around and students are able to purchase prizes with their posivtive dojo points. They receive points throughout the month for being Safe, Kind, Respectful and Resonsible. Money earned from this fundraiser will be used to purchase prizes for this store. We want to be able to give our students some really cool items!
We have several openings in our district!
If you are interested in working in our Lunchroom every day, we have some openings! You would need to be able to work each day from 11:40-1:15. This would be a paid position at minimum wage. Please let me know if you are interested in working in the lunchroom and we can work together to get the hiring process started. Parent Support Application
We are also hiring Para-Professionals. There are SEVERAL openings throughout the district. This position starts around $18 per/hour and includes benefits.
We also have bus driver positions available in our district! Click on this link for more information on becoming a bus driver. We train you for FREE and this is a great way to be in sync with your child's schedule.
If you are not able to commit to a full time job, we also have a system called EDUSTAFF which is our subbing system. You could go through the orientation for that program and be a substitute secretary, para-pro and even a teacher! (Subsitute teachers need 60 hours of college credits)
IMPORTANT!
Please read this message from Acting Superintendent Jennifer Curry with information regarding the Wayne County Enhancement Millage that will be on the November 5 ballot.
