Course Selection Fair
On February 8th during 2nd hour we are going to hold a school-wide course selection fair for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. 12th graders will be in a senior meeting at that time.
Purpose: To allow an opportunity for students to explore course options from the teachers themselves. This will help teachers promote their course offerings and for students learn more about their options to make informed decisions.
When: February 8th during 2nd hour.
How: On Feb 7th during 1st hour, students will be presented with a very brief slide show to explain the purpose and options. Students will complete a Google form to identify sessions they want to attend and alternates (not a sign-up but an interest form). On Feb 8th 1st hour, students will have a half sheet of paper to write down their choices, alternates, and room numbers. At 2nd hour students will go to the sessions they chose and not go to the 2nd hour at all. Seniors will go to the auditorium. Students will spend 15 minutes in each session with 5 minutes in between.

Space is limited. Forms are available in the counseling office. The cost of credit recovery is $50. If you qualify for free and reduced lunch, a fee waiver is available. Information on how to apply for over 30 local scholarships will be provided. The presentation, application links, and more information can be found on our high school website-counseling tab- scholarships, as well as in the students Class of 2024 Google Classroom. The deadline to turn in applications to the counseling office is Friday, March 1st at 2:30. Winners will be notified in April and invited to the 2024 Senior Honors Night in the Alverson Center for Performing Arts in May.
Fowlerville High School extends their gratitude to all local scholarship sponsors that provide over $25,000 to our senior class each year.
(Seniors) FAFSA Update:
Additional Guidance from the state was sent out regarding the status of free and reduced lunch. Only students that qualify financially should indicate they receive Free and Reduced lunch on their application. If you already marked you receive Free and Reduced Lunch (all students in the state of Michigan have received free and reduced lunch since Covid), more information will be provided later. We will pass that information on as soon as we receive it.
We were also just informed that colleges will not receive the FAFSA form from the government until mid-March. This means that families will not know the total amount of aid available to them until late spring.
Despite delays, please remember that when you complete your FAFSA, you are holding a “place in line” for your award. Those that complete the FAFSA earlier have access to more funds.
PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA- no matter what your plans are now. Each year we have students that change their plans and have not completed their FAFSA and are not able to access financial aid. The FAFSA is not just for college loans but also for grants and many scholarships that do not have to be paid back and can be used at colleges, universities, community colleges, trade schools, certificate preparation programs etc.
Additional Virtual FAFSA workshops have been added.
Fowlerville High School would like to inform parents/guardians of a new source for information. Our "Virtual Counseling Office" has links for future planning, mental health and community resources, special class options, as well as requesting a meeting with a counselor and much more. This information can be found on Fowlerville High School Webpage under the Counseling Department.
