The Principal's Corner
Dear Families,
February has been an exciting month for all of us here at School #6! We’ve reached some amazing milestones, including celebrating our 90th, 100th, 101st days of school, and Love and Friendship/No One Eats Alone Day. Our students have been engaged in fun and meaningful activities that foster learning, community, and kindness.
We are also proud to share that during our Wear Red Day fundraiser, we raised $126 for the American Heart Association! Thank you so very much for your generosity, contributions, and support!
Behavior Expectations & Earned Rewards:
Throughout the course of the year, we emphasize that good choices yield good consequences, while bad choices yield bad consequences. We appreciate your continued support in reinforcing positive behaviors by reminding students to follow school rules and procedures. Students who consistently demonstrate respect, kindness, and responsibility have opportunities to earn rewards and participate in special activities! These are the good consequences we strive for.
Uniform Policy:
This comes as a friendly reminder that school uniforms must be worn at all times. If there is a designated N.U.T Day (No Uniform Today), it will be noted on our school calendar as either a dress down or fundraising activity. Your continued support helps us maintain a positive learning environment for all.
I humbly thank you for your continued support in making School #6 a great place to learn and grow! Scroll down to see all the wonderful things happening in our school!
Important Reminders:
- No school from February 17th to February 21st.
- School resumes on Monday, February 24th.
- Schoolwide Literacy Night is scheduled for March 6, and the Book Fair will be open during the event.
- We need volunteers to help set up the Book Fair on February 27 and 28. If you’re available to assist, please reach out to Ms. Nicole D’Elia via email at ndelia@gboe.org.

Principal's Pep Talk
Principal Pep Talk is a monthly school community-building event where students gather by grade level clusters, K-2 and 3-5, for an engaging and motivating session with Dr. Mendez. These pep talks focus on reinforcing positive behavior, celebrating achievements, and fostering school spirit.
This month, we introduced our first Preschool Principal Pep Talk, where Dr. Mendez led a special read-aloud and hosted a fun PK mini dance party to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It was a joyful and energetic way to connect with our youngest learners and make them feel part of our Sixers community!

Health and Wellness Reminders from Nurse Falk
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we are in the midst of flu season, we want to ensure that our school remains a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff. With many viruses circulating in our community, it is important that we all work together to reduce the spread of illness.
Please DO NOT send your child to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
Fever (temperature of 100.4F) Please invest in a thermometer.
Runny nose
Severe congestion
Sore throat
Red eyes with discharge (pink eye)
Cough
Body aches
Vomiting
Diarrhea
If your child shows any of these symptoms, they should stay home until they are symptom free and fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. This allows them to recover fully and helps protect others from becoming ill.
We understand the challenges of managing illness during the school year, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy. If you have any questions or need guidance, please do not hesitate toto reach out to the school nurse.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Warm Regards,
Nurse Falk

Parent Power-Up
Early Pick Up
Many parents are informing teachers of Early Pick Ups or Children Not Attending Aftercare via Class Dojo the day of. Please note that teachers are teaching and may not get to check emails or messages sent via Class Dojo.
Please be aware of the following, noted in the Elementary School Handbook page 7: Parents requesting their child be excused from school before the school day ends must send written verification in advance signifying the reason, time, and who will pick up the student.
If an emergency occurs, and a child cannot attend aftercare or needs to be picked up early, please contact the School Secretary. Do not inform teachers via Class Dojo as you risk the possibility that teachers will not get the message on time.
