We are looking forward to warmer weather next week...which means it is a great time to start incorporating walking to school again! We highly recommend that all families walk to school any chance possible! As a friendly reminder, instruction begins at 8:00am.

In the upcoming weeks, our third through eighth graders will be taking the annual state assessment, the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Please see below for important information and reminders.

On Saturday, March 1st , 14 Bateman Chess players played in the CPS Chess Playoffs. Although none of the teams qualified for the championship, all of our players competed admirably.

The K-8 squad narrowly missed the top 3. They were led by 8th grader, Gabriel, whose 4.5 points earned him the 2nd place award and a ticket to the championship as an individual in his final year on the Bateman Chess Team! Also, in the K-6 section, 6th grader Nathan got 4 wins, which was enough to qualify him for the CPS championships, as well! In the K-4 group, 4th grader Isaac qualified for the championship with 3 wins and having the highest tie-break score.

Congratulations to those 3 individuals for earning a spot in the championships, and to the entire Bateman Chess Team for another successful season of CPS chess!

We’ve partnered with ClimbZone for a fun-filled fundraiser on Friday, March 14th from 4pm-8pm! 🧗‍♀️ Come out and enjoy an exciting evening while supporting our school. 20% of net sales from food, tickets, packages, and game cards will be donated directly back to Bateman. GoCPS High School and Elementary School results will be available for schools and families in their GoCPS online portals on the dates below. GoCPS Results will be available for all those that submitted their applications in the fall window. High school results will be posted on March 14, 2025 followed by elementary results on April 11, 2025. Please see below for the full spring timeline for both elementary and high school.

​The Bateman Local School Council (LSC) supports our school by making decisions that affect our children, their education, and the environment of the school. The primary responsibilities of the LSC include the following:

• to select the school’s principal & renew the principal’s contract,
• approve the Continuous Improvement Work Plan (Bateman CIWP)
• approve the school’s budget for the school year.

Monthly meetings will take place in the Bateman Library on a rotating morning and afternoon schedule. Morning meetings will be at 8:15am and after school meetings will take place at 3:30pm.

Ability Sports Camp of Chicago (ASCC) is a local summer sports camp for children with disabilities. It is a great opportunity for youth that may not be able to participate in traditional sports camps to have the chance to learn and experience organized sports.
