ATHLETICS
Student Athlete Profile
Brandon Rivera 12th and Evan Perez 11th grade South East Academy
How long have you been playing baseball?
Brandon: I’ve been playing since I was little, maybe 3 and a half years old. All of my family has played baseball, I’ve always been around the sport. This is my 4th year playing baseball at the high school level. I even played travel ball since I was 8 years old. I’ve always played 3rd base and pitcher.
Evan: I’ve been playing for about 9 years. I was playing in a year-round league that played other sports, but it was baseball that stuck out for me, something I really loved to play. I mainly play short stop, and any position on the field really, but not catcher, it’s just not me.
What is your favorite baseball memory so far?
Brandon: Well when I was selected to be on a prospect team, I was the only person to be selected from the State of California for that age group, its called prep, but it’s at the high school level. We even went to Arizona and had some games there.
Evan: When my grandfather took me to game 7 of the world series games at Dodger Stadium. I’ll never forget that day, it was against the Astros. We lost, but it’s a day I’ll never forget. It was just me and my grandpa, he got me a shirt, and I still have it to this day.
What are your plans for after high school ?
Evan: I want to play baseball at the college level. My major, I’m not too sure about, but I will definitely start looking into it this year for sure.
Brandon: I also want to play baseball at the college level, and get a degree in sports medicine. I’ve also thought of becoming a fireman.
Who is your favorite teacher?
Evan: Master Sargent Allard. Even though he was tough on me, he saw the potential I had. Plus he has a wild sense of humor
Brandon: Master Sargent Allard as well. He was also way tough on me. He taught me some important life lessons, and I know he will always have my back.
