2nd to NONE

February 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you and your families well as we navigate through the month of February together. As we progress through the academic year, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important updates and reminders with you:
As we continue to develop strong character in our students, we want to share our Portrait of a Wildcat focus for this month.
In January, we emphasized Integrity—teaching students to uphold strong values, make honest choices, and earn the trust and respect of others.
For February, our focus is Confidence—helping students believe in their ability to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Confidence empowers children to take risks, learn from mistakes, and develop resilience in the face of adversity.
Here are some ways you can help build confidence at home:
🔹 Encourage a Growth Mindset – Remind your child that mistakes are part of learning. Use phrases like, “Mistakes help us grow” or “You can get better with practice.”
🔹 Praise Effort Over Perfection – Recognize hard work, persistence, and improvement rather than just the final result. Try saying, “I love how you kept trying!”
🔹 Support Independence – Give your child opportunities to make choices and solve problems on their own. This builds self-trust and decision-making skills.
🔹 Model Confidence – Let your child see you face challenges with a positive attitude. Say things like, “This is tough, but I know I can figure it out.”
🔹 Celebrate Progress – Help your child recognize their growth by reflecting on past successes. Remind them of times they worked hard and achieved their goals.

Science Unit
Dear Families,
We are excited to begin our science unit on the Water Cycle of New Mexico! Students will explore how water moves through our environment. We will also discuss how the water cycle affects our state’s climate, rivers, and water conservation efforts.
To support your child’s learning at home, here are some questions you can ask:
💧 What are the main steps of the water cycle?
💧 Why is water important to plants, animals, and people in New Mexico?
💧 How do mountains and rivers play a role in our state’s water system?
💧 What are some ways we can help conserve water in our daily lives?
Encouraging your child to observe the weather, clouds, or even a puddle drying up can spark great discussions! Thank you for your support in making science engaging and meaningful.
