June 2024
Happy Pride Month
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.
Senior CAP and AP Info
Seniors graduating that have taken CAP courses, please remember you need to directly request your transcript from Clinton Community College and send it to your college next year. This is not done on your high school transcript. Transcripts need to be requested through the Clinton Community College student portal, or by clicking on the link below and following the instructions. Seniors graduating that have taken AP courses will need to access scores in July and have them directly sent to the college. We cannot do either of these things in the counseling office.

Senior Families: STEM Scholarship Awards Program Deadline August 15th, 2024
The STEM Scholarship Awards program provides free tuition to students who are in the top 10% of their graduating class, attending a SUNY or CUNY college immediately following high school graduation, pursuing a degree in an approved STEM program of study, enrolled in full time study (12 credits), and live in NYS and after graduation work in an approved STEM occupation for five years.
Juniors: Junior Parent/Guardian and Student Night June 10th, 2024
We will host an informational session for students and their families. After leaving that session we will provide students with "summer homework." Completing these tasks will help students feel much more prepared come September. Students should focus on completing brag sheets, a draft of the college essay, and starting the Common App or the SUNY App. If students are only applying to SUNY schools they should complete the SUNY App at SUNY.edu (click apply). If students are applying to a mix of private, out of state, and SUNY schools they should use the Common App. This application is tedious and beginning some of it this summer would be beneficial.
Sophomores: PSAT Information Payment Due June 24th
It is highly recommended that if your child is considering going to a four year college they take a PSAT. This will help prepare students for college entrance exams that they will take in the spring of junior year and/or the fall of senior year. Payment for the PSAT is due Monday, June 24th. The test will be in October with a specific date to be determined when we return to school in September. If your child has a 504 or IEP please complete the release that was emailed home as soon as possible so we can submit for accommodations. We must submit for accommodations the beginning of August and cannot do that without this form.
