Vendors will have raffle tickets to give out to students displaying excellent soft skills (eye contact, shaking hands, asking meaningful questions). Raffle tickets can be entered to win one of several gift cards/prizes. Take full advantage of this opportunity to interact with these adults who are graciously volunteering their time. We also have several schools coming who want to talk to students about certification programs.

Looking Back
Belize Spring Break Trip
Over April break, the International Travel Club visited the beautiful country of Belize to experience the vibrant culture, welcoming community and exquisite landscape. Our students gained the experience of a lifetime and made memories they will never forget. From ziplining, to swimming with sharks, to trying new foods, our students truly stepped out of their comfort zones and learned so much about themselves and their role in this community.
2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
42 Rockville High School students are winners in the 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. RHS students received 87 awards this year, including 13 Gold Keys, 23 Silver Keys, and 51 Honorable Mentions, the highest number of any participating high school in the state of Connecticut. Athena Lavigne and Jenna Michaud received a 2024 American Voices Nomination for Best in Show. Natalie Crowley received a Gold Key for her writing portfolio.
UCONN'S 2024 Connecticut Student Writers Magazine
RHS also received 11 Gold Awards, 14 Silver Awards, and 8 Honorable Mentions in UCONN'S 2024 Connecticut Student Writers Magazine! RHS had winners in every category (fiction, poetry, non-fiction) and our students won more awards than any other school in CT. Congratulations to our young and talented writers! We are very proud of your accomplishments!
RHS has 7 Finalists in the Hill-Stead's 2023 Fresh Voices Poetry Competition

Please congratulate them on this prestigious honor. Their poetry portfolios are exceptional.

On Saturday March 30th the RHS Unified team took the plunge for Special Olympics CT and for RHS Unified team. The event was held at Crandall Lake in Tolland. This year the weather was windy but better than last year’s snow. We had the biggest contingent of Plungers this year than we have had in the past. We also broke our donation total of over $4,000.00. RHS LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
April was School Library Month
Thank you to all the wonderful students that wrote us a message about what they love about the RHS Library Media Center!
The library media center has been busy this past month with lots of BreakOut EDU Games and zSpace activities.
- Breakout EDU games are escape room like games that challenge each group to use their content knowledge, teamwork, and perseverance to crack the code and break into the box!
- zSpace is an incredible tool where students can view models in 3D! zSpace helps students explore concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and have AR/VR experiences for science, math, engineering, and career exploration!
Freshmen students have also been visiting the library preparing to create book trailers using their independent reading books!
May Book Displays
May is here and new displays are up!
- Like Star Wars? Check out our "May the 4th be with You" display and check out a Star Wars story.
- Love Movies? Check out a book that has been turned into a movie! A good rule of thumb is to always read the book before you see the movie- but in this case, maybe you'll LOVE the book if you already enjoyed the film!
- May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Month! Celebrate by reading a book by an AAPI author! We have a great selection of amazing books to choose from
- Mental Health Awareness- Check out books that focus on mental health journeys and stories.
