Character Strong
Our District-Wide Social-Emotional program, Character Strong, is an evidence-based, multi-tiered solution designed to support whole child success. Integrated into morning meeting lessons, Character Strong helps build a sense of community while developing essential life skills.
The aim of education is to prepare young people for success in all areas of life, including academic growth, college and career readiness, and overall life satisfaction. To achieve these goals, Character Strong focuses on three foundational outcomes:
A Sense of Belonging: Fostering an environment where every student feels valued and connected.
Improved Well-Being: Enhancing students' emotional health and resilience.
Increased Engagement: Encouraging active participation and investment in their learning and growth. By addressing these key areas, Character Strong helps lay the groundwork for students' long-term success and fulfillment.
January Character Strong Focus: Perseverance
This month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. Perseverance is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.
PTO Updates:
We hold PTO meetings every month and would love to see more families get involved. It's a great way to have a voice in your child's education and help make their school experience both fun and engaging, while also supporting our dedicated teachers. It truly takes teamwork and commitment from everyone to create a wonderful educational environment for our students. We hope to see you there!
December 16-20th Recap:
Book Blast
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Book Blast event a success! Before break, the students had the exciting moment of the big reveal, and each child got to take home a free book(s) for their personal library. The excitement was contagious as they eagerly waited for Mrs. Small to count down the moment to open the books during the morning announcements. It was such a joy to see their happy faces as they received their new books! This fundraiser is a fantastic way to get books into the hands of our students and spark a lifelong love for reading. We’re incredibly grateful to all the families who participated and the generous donors who made this event possible. Thank you for helping us bring smiles and foster a love for reading in our students!
Holiday Spirit Week
Turkey Challenge Winners!
Congratulations to our first grade students for winning the Turkey Behavior Challenge! They showed outstanding leadership by following expectations and setting a great example for others. As a reward, they enjoyed a fun cookie decorating activity – a sweet celebration of their hard work and great behavior. Way to go, first grade! Keep up the amazing effort! Be on the lookout for our next behavior challenge for the month of January!
Friday Assembly
Friday assemblies in the gym are an exciting way for students to kick off their day. The assembly is all about getting pumped up and celebrating the great things that happened throughout the week. Mrs. Small leads the event by reviewing the highlights she observed, announcing birthdays, recognizing positive office referrals, and awarding winner for the Mable Woolsey Way Ticket drawing. Students also get to show their school spirit by clapping along to the school fight song together.
