On February 24th and 25th, we sent out letters containing details about an Alberta Government Survey for all grade 4 parents. You will have received an email including a survey link and your unique Random Access Code. We are proud of our school and value your feedback as we celebrate our successes and identify areas of growth. Your input helps shape the future of our school community. The deadline to submit your response is March 21, 2025.

We are excited to be offering parent engagement sessions this year. These sessions are designed to provide tools for parents to support their child's learning. Before Christmas, we asked for your feedback - thank you to all who took the time to complete this survey on parent engagement night topics. As a result of the survey, we will be offering the following parent session at the school:

• March 13 (5-6 p.m.): Literacy Parent Engagement Night
• This session is jam-packed with tools to support your child with reading.
• Have you noticed your child tapping out sounds in words? Have they talked about "heart" words? Literacy instruction has changed with the new curriculum - and we are here to help!

It is time for us to start establishing our student numbers for next year. These numbers help direct our Education Plan, goals, and staffing for the upcoming year. Please take a few minutes to complete the form for the upcoming school year for your child(ren) who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 3 for the 2024-2025 school year.

***Parents with children who are currently enrolled in Grade 4 please DO NOT fill in this form. Please watch for an email regarding a "School Transfer Form 2025-2026" for your Grade 4 student which will be assigned, and need to be completed in SchoolEngage.

This year Ecole Our Lady of the Rosary will again be an Affiliate School in partnership with Jays Care Foundation and the Toronto Blue Jays. Jays Care Foundation builds sport for development programs that uses sport as a tool to develop core life skills such as: connection; belonging; leadership; courage; and independence. The program is offered at no cost to students. We will be running two programs in place of intramurals, “Girls at Bat” with Mrs Hebert and “RBI” with Mr. Peterman. Our hope is to provide students with a weekly opportunity to participate in this program in the school gym or outside on the field on Mondays (Boys), Wednesdays (Girls) and Fridays (Open). These programs will run during the school day (11:30-12:00) and will start March 31st and end May 30th. Please note the week of April 21-25th, we will not be running the program as it is spring break. The program will consist of baseball activities (running, catching, throwing) and small group games that focus on being physically active and engaging in social play and interaction.

• Grade 2 families, please see the attached letter and permission form that needs to be returned by March 28th.

Team Yoshi was the winner. The classes from that team will receive frozen treats as a prize.

From team Yoshi- Mr. Rivera's class had the most minutes read at 13187. They earned a pizza party.

The student that read the most, was also from Mr Rivera's class ANGELINA HUBLEY with a total of 4128 minutes read, and she won a book purchase from chapters.

What do Trustees do?

Trustees shape the future of Catholic education within RDCRS. They are elected representatives responsible for:

• Vision & Strategy: Setting the division's direction, aligned with Catholic teachings and values.
• Policy & Budget: Creating and approving policies, and overseeing responsible resource allocation.
• Advocacy: Representing the division's interests to the government and the broader community.
• Accountability: Ensuring responsible use of public funds and strong division performance.
• Leadership: Hiring and evaluating the Superintendent.

Who can be a Trustee?

You must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years or older, a resident of the school division, and a Roman Catholic.

Qualities of a Trustee:

A commitment to Catholic education, a focus on student well-being, strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, a willingness to listen and consider diverse perspectives, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ethical conduct.
