- I apologize for any misunderstandings that took place in terms of gaining access to the school on Tuesday, October 31. This was definitely a high stress day for everyone! I take responsibility for not communicating these protocols clearly to everyone in the All Souls Catholic School Community.
- Moving forward, please familiarize yourself with the safety protocols here at All Souls School.
- They are in place for the SAFETY of EVERYONE on campus.
- As we move forward, I thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Parent Student Handbook
The Parent Student Handbook provides a guide for parents, administration, faculty and staff. Students benefit and gain the most when the adults in their lives work together as a team. Making oursevles familiar with the school's procedures and policies will facilitate that teamwork for the benefit of all the students at All Souls Catholic School.

COVID - 19
While we seem to have moved past the worst of COVID-19, we remain vigilant and in the event of an outbreak we still have the All Souls Catholic School Protection Plan from 2022 - 2023 in place. We still however make the following recommendations.
- Everyone should test for COVID - 19 prior to returning to school from all breaks.
- We recommend masking, but at this time it is at your discretion.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Visible Learning
The Three Questions
As a faculty and staff, we continue our professional development and implementation of Visible Learning best practices. Part of understanding our effectiveness is that the students can answer these three questions in ELA and Math.
- What are you learning today (Learning Target / Intention)?
- How do you know that you learned it (Success Criteria)?
- Why are you learning this today (How does this apply to real-life)?
I encourage parents to ask these three questios when your child gets home each evening.
Student Engagement
In the Visible Learning Model, being able to answer the three questions above, improves a student's ability to learn the standard being taught and to take more ownership for their own learning. Part of taking ownership of their own learning, students are able to assess how well they are doing by rating themselves using the success criteria. If they rate themselves low, then they need to tell the teacher or ask for more assistance from the teacher or classmates at the appropriate time. Extending this even further, students should be able to rate their own level of engagement according to their grade appropriate level. Please see the chart below for understanding a student's level of engagement.
As with all initiatives, it is about the process not the destination. Developing a common vocabulary across all grade levels is intended to provide students with clarity about what they are learning from day to day, and year to year.
Church Hall Update
I know that all of us are anxious for the completion of the Church Hall. However, the Church Hall is still under construction and will not abe available for our Fall Festival. Luis, the Head Knight of Columbus has asked that we do not enter the Church Hall for safety reasons.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
