Spartan StuCo Update
Join the Spartan StuCo
Student Council is open to all students in grades 6-8.
What is StuCo?
The Shepard Student Council presents students with a unique opportunity to take on leadership roles, driving transformative changes within our school while also fostering a positive influence on both our local community and the wider world through philanthropic outreaches. By being part of the StuCo, students become the driving force in cultivating a vibrant school spirit and contributing to the realization of a wide range of school initiatives.
StuCo members not only facilitate the execution of necessary school projects but also play an instrumental role in their conception, collaborating closely with our building and district administrators.
Please reach out to our StuCo Sponsors with any questions:

District 109 Updates
Upcoming Safety Exercise
On October 6, 2023, District 109 staff, who all train ALICE annually, will review the ALICE procedures with students. Students in grades K-3 will read a book, “I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared,” followed by a discussion with their teacher; students in grades 4-8 will watch a short screencast that reviews the different components of ALICE, and they will discuss how they would respond to various situations. District 109 does not conduct unannounced drills, and we do not simulate any type of danger or violence. Students will not notice any sort of extra law enforcement presence in their school. If you have any questions, please contact me or our district Director of Safety & Security, Solveig Jurmu at sjurmu@dps109.org.
