Each week students attend a Visible Learning class to learn about traits of a GOOD LEARNER. In the upcoming week, students will be working on FLEXIBILITY. Please take time next week to discuss this trait with your student and reward or praise them for being flexible.

PLEASE keep the north east end of the fence clear for the day care vans. We have signs on the fence and six day care vans that need that space both before and after school.

PLEASE only park in the handicap space if you have a legit placard from the state. We have actual individuals who NEED this parking and parents without a tag who are parking in these spaces.

Morning drop off is 7:30 - 8:30 am. Dropping students off BEFORE 7:30 am is extremely unsafe as there is NO supervision for them. Please help us keep our kids safe by dropping your students off in the morning at or after 7:30 am.

Lunch payments can be made online or in the front office using cash or check. Payments made in the front office are posted immediately in Aspire. Online payments are not immediately updated in Aspire.

When payments are made online we must complete several steps to get the payments moved to Aspire. We do this every Monday and Wednesday. After we run the online report it takes another day for the money to post to your student's Aspire account. Please allow 3 - 5 days from the day you make the online payment to the day the information posts in Aspire.

Students participate in rotations each day at school for both language arts and math. Rotations include Computer Aided Instruction (CAIS) using an adaptive software program, Imagine Learning, small group instruction with the classroom teachers, and stations. This process is just one way we help to create a personalized learning experience for your student.

If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID they should remain home in isolation for five days from the first date of symptoms. When they return to school, they should wear a mask for five more days. If a student or staff member is in proximity (within 6 feet for 15 or more minutes) to an individual in the home who tests positive for COVID, the exposed individual should wear a mask at school for at least 10 days following exposure.

We will have our first fire drill on Monday at 2:30 pm. If you come to the school 2:30 - 2:45 you will not be admitted and will need to wait outside until the drill has ended. Teachers will prepare students for the drill ahead of time so students are not anxious or overly alarmed.

One of our schoolwide programs is Zero Ribbits. Classes who transition quietly in the hallways between activities can earn a "purple ticket" for having Zero Ribbits. Each Friday the grade with the most purple tickets wins a FREE Dress Down Day for the following Wednesday. This week's winner is 3rd grade. They will have a FREE Dress Down Day next Wednesday.

Our kiddos are loving the fresh fruit and vegetable program. This week they were able to try sweet peppers, apples, tangerines and strawberries. Which did your student love the most?

“Restorative Justice (RJ) is a values-based approach to community building, problem solving, and conflict resolution that is used in schools, the justice system, and community organizations to build and restore relationships, create opportunities for dialogue, transform conflict and repair harm, and create just and equitable learning environments.” (https://www.rjutah.org/)

At Bridge Elementary, we utilize restorative justice as a way to help a student right the wrong that was committed and to help build positive relationships between students. This can involve a conversation, community service, peer to peer conversations, and discussions on topics that are helpful for the student (making friends, peer relationships, handling big feelings, etc).

Restorative justice is another avenue we utilize when managing behaviors at Bridge. This is a preferred route rather than a traditional suspension from the class for all behaviors. Suspension is still utilized, as needed, but utilizing restorative practices and having an opportunity to work through a problem between students, in their class, or with an issue on the playground has more learning and growth than a traditional suspension. Our goal is to help to build responsible and respectful relationships and students who will go out into the community and do great things.

Title I was initially passed in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). It is the largest federal assistance program for public schools. These supplemental funds provide students the opportunity to receive a fair, equitable and high-quality education to help close achievement gaps.

Bridge Elementary receives our Title I funding based on the percentage of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch. For this reason we encourage ALL families to apply for Free/Reduced lunch through Aspire to ensure every single student receives the services needed, including access to free or reduced meals if appropriate.

Title I provides avenues for parent input and participation. We do this through our surveys and the link to the form on our website which allows parents to submit questions and suggestions.

This year we have two companies that are renting space at Bridge to provide after-school programs - Mad Science and Power Chess. Both programs begin on Friday, September 9, 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm. Mad Science is a six-week program and Chess is a 12-week program. You can find more information and register for these programs on our website under Community Events:

Aspire is the student information system we use at Bridge. This is the place where you add or modify your emergency contacts, check your child's lunch balance, look over their absences and find the name and contact information for your child's teacher. It is also the place where you apply for Free/Reduced lunch.

Please take a moment to ensure ALL your child's emergency contacts are added and they have a little green arrow next to their name indicating they are allowed to check out your child from school.

FFVP - Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

Bridge was awarded a grant to provide students fresh fruit and vegetables for snack each day, M-TH. This program is designed to give students the chance to try new, fresh and healthy foods that they may not otherwise have a chance to try. Our kids LOVE this program and find all kinds of yummy things and sometimes, something they think is "yucky". This program will begin next week!
