Finish STRONG!
Dear Atholton Families,
As we approach the halfway point of the month of May and four weeks left in the school year, I am seeking parental assistance in helping our students finish the school year STRONG! There is often a tendency to relax and take our foot off the gas as we approach the finish line. However, I am asking for the opposite. This is the time we need to dig in, keep our foot on the gas, and plow throught the finish line.
In addition, this is the time to encourage your child to find out if he/she has any outstanding school obligations. Have they lost a textbook or failed to return a library book? Encourage them to begin to look for items that belong to the school so that they do not incur a school obligation.
I have had several inquiries regarding summer travel plans and final exams. It is against HCPSS policy to offer final exams BEFORE the assigned final exam date. Therefore, if a student is unable to complete his/her final exam, the teacher must be contacted ASAP. Arrangements are made for students to take their final exam over the summer under the supervision of a staff member. If you have any issues with making arrangements, please reach out to your child’s assistant principal for assistance. The final exam schedule will be released in the next couple of weeks and will take place during the last three days of school (June 15-17).
Congratulations to our spring athletes who for some their season has come to an end. The single-elimination of playoffs can be harsh sometimes but our athletes never gave up and fought hard until the end. Thank you all for a wonderful season and thank you parents and athletics boosters for all of your support.
This past weekend was the AHS Spring Dance Concert. As I have come to expect, Ms. Haffey and her dancers never cease to amaze me. Congratulations to our dance program on a wonderful performance. The hard work that went into practice and preparation was worth it! Nice job!!
Lastly, this Thursday is our senior picnic. I am so thrilled that we are once again able to host these indelible year-ending events for our seniors. There has been a senior parent sign-up for drinks/desserts. I hope you are able to contribute. Additionally, below you will find information regarding a Senior Swag Bag. Senior parents – please support the Class of 2022!
Don't forget that we have a 3-hr Eary Dismissal this week (Wednesday, 5/18)!
Have a terrific week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley
