What's Up At The Nest...

Principal's Message

Dear OMS families,

As always another fantastic week at the nest! As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, April 19th, it is a School Improvement Teacher Workday. We look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday.

MAP Test Results

This week our 2nd through 5th-grade students completed the ELA and MATH NWEA MAP assessment. MAP reports will be sent home across the district on May 7th.

Next week we will continue to assess students who were absent.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Devices (iPads and Chromebooks)

Now that we no longer have remote Mondays, we will begin having our students keep all devices and chargers at school, with the exception of our Kindergarteners and 5th graders.

Parents - please send in your child's device along with the charger that was assigned to it on Tuesday, April 20th. We hope this will continue to lighten the load of our student's backpacks.

Update from the Department of Facilities Management

District 25 intends to apply a granular fertilizer and crabgrass pre-emergent to our properties in the coming weeks to help maintain the grass and reduce muddy conditions onsite. Please follow this link to access the complete notice: LINK

We still have unclaimed items. Please take a few minutes to review the lost and found pictures linked below and email omsoffice@sd25.org if you find an item that belongs to your child.

All items not collected by April 23rd will be donated.

One Book One School

Students and families have been enjoying sharing Cleo Edison Oliver Playground Millionaire together. Mr. Davis and Mrs. Pemberton have been getting the mornings started by making predictions about the book during morning announcements. This week, students had to work together with their classmates to participate in a schoolwide scavenger hunt. They solved clues from the book and searched for the hidden objects around the school. Families are invited to check out the LMC website page for ideas and activities connected to the book. To extend learning from the book, there are discussion questions as well as activities and games that teach about economics topics.

ABC 25 Get Burbed!

REGISTER TODAY for the 10th Annual ABC/25 GetBurbed Challenge on April 24, 2021!

Online registration ends on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

There are still time slots available for the in-Person 1 Mile Run being held on April 24, 2021 at South Middle School! You can also chose do to the Virtual 1 Mile or 5K that you can complete anytime before May 2, 2021.
