The Cub Hub
Notes from the Den | Volume 1 : Issue 20 - January 4, 2021
Principal's Message
Happy Monday & Happy New Year Bear Creek Cubs,
AJ and I hope you and your family had a chance to connect during the break and enjoy each other. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday. Your children will see some differences in most classrooms as the district has started the installation of plexiglass dividers in an effort to create the safest environment possible for staff and students.
We will continue to screen everyone prior to entry, wear our masks, and maintain social distancing to the best of our ability.
Please reach out if you questions or concerns and as always your support has been our rock solid foundation, thank you!
AJ and David

Procedures For Requesting In Person / Remote Learning
Many families have contacted me about requesting remote learning for a period of time to start the second semester based on the steep increase of COVID-19 cases, the increased overall positivity rate, and number of hospitalizations.
Each nine week grading period is handled separately.
You can switch immediately from in person to remote with a simple email to me and your child's teacher.
If you are remote and would like to come on campus please email me and your child's teacher with the understanding that we need five school days of advance notice to prepare.
The next scenario is where things get tricky. If you are in person and like to switch to remote a simple email to me and your child's teacher is all we need and the change can happen immediately (as I indicated earlier.) However you want to return on on campus learning (within the same nine week grading period) you will have to wait until the beginning of the next nine week grading period to return to campus.
These are really challenging times and we are here to support you and your family anyway we can, please let me know if you have questions or need a minute to chat.

What To Do If You Child Is Not Feeling Well (THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER)
If your child is ill with symptoms consistent (cough, sore throat, stomach issues, headaches, fatigue, congestion, etc ...) with Covid-19 contact Mr. Crissey and your child's teacher and then the following protocols must be followed:
Students May Return After
10 days have passed since symptoms started, and improvement in overall symptoms, and 24 hours have passed without fever and use of fever-reducing medication.
OR
Provide doctor’s note to campus health room staff stating that symptoms are not COVID-19-related and student can return to school.
OR
Provide a negative COVID-19 test.
As an FYI the same holds true for staff members.
