Key Project Updates
- This week was all about returning to normal after the storm; cleaning up downed trees, resolving issues from power outages. The Yard Waste Center remains open dawn to dusk to help community clean up from the storm. On Saturday/Sunday more than 1100 loads of brush was received. With a staff of four, it would have taken the Street Department all summer to clear trees curbside. Volunteers & neighbors helped property owners all over town clear downed trees & limbs to clean up properties. Ameren brought 157 lineman from across Missouri & Iowa to restore power quickly.
- Next week try to avoid Dunbar Ave. as work to overlay this street gets underway.
- Fireworks Season is here. Fireworks Displays are permitted between 6/28-7/5 from 10AM - 10PM; and on 7/3 & 7/4 display are permitted until 11PM. Since fireworks have been allowed in the city limits, the police department call volume is manageable. Based on the past years, the typical complaints from neighbors upset with fireworks use is noise afterhours, and firework debris falling on their house, car or yard. Please let your neighbor know in advance if you are planning a party, so important conversations happen.
- Parks/Rec had a good turnout for Tennis Camp with 32 campers & Speed/Agility also was well attended. 20 Kids came out to Youth fishing day. Golf was hit hard with downed trees & worked hard to get the course playable in time for weekend tournaments.
