Note From the Administrative Team
Your Kids ARE Learning a Foreign Language… Just Not the One You Suspect!
Walking down the hallways of Wredling, walking through the cafeteria, or even just hearing small group work in class, we often hear words or phrases that make no sense to us adults. That is nothing unusual. Each generation has developed their own vernacular that fits their social perspective. But as an adult… we often have no idea what they mean! It’s like hearing a foreign language.
Here is a short TikTok video (downloaded to my Google Drive so you are not going to TikTok) that gives one teacher’s perspective on what he hears. It is pretty darn funny! (**Please note that there is one inappropriate word in this video.)
Asking about and learning this new vocabulary is a great way to interact with your middle schooler. And if you want to take some of the air out of their coolness, just start using those words yourself!
Examples:
You nailed that math test! You ate and left no crumbs. (meaning: Great job on that math test!)
I watched that Taylor Swift video and she has mad riz! (meaning: Taylor Swift had great charisma in that video.)
Don’t insult your brother’s new shirt. You should be gassin’ him up! (meaning: making him feel good)
I know you were not where you were supposed to be last night. That’s cap! (meaning, that’s not true)
This is why I love working in middle schools. Our students are trying new things, especially vocabulary, and it sometimes is just funny! I would love to hear any experiences you have of using these words with your kids!
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim

Mr. Loversky shared the list of those students who have purchased yearbooks with the students this morning. If you are unsure whether or not you ordered, please have your RedHawk check the list he sent them today. Contact Lucy Johnson via phone 331-228-5129 or email lucy.johnson@d303.org with any questions.
WMS 2nd Quarter Honor Roll
Our Honor Roll recipients were recognized today, with a ribbon, plus a treat at lunchtime from our fantastic PTO!
Please note: We may have some children who earn Honor Roll status but their name is not included on this list. This is because their parents have requested their children's names NOT be published, which includes being published as part of the Honor Roll here or in the newspapers. Changes to this request can be made either in the Home Access Center or with Student Services.
Congratulations to ALL of our RedHawks who worked hard throughout our 2nd quarter of this school year. A special shout-out goes to those who were able to achieve Honor Roll status by earning either all A's or all A's and B's. All A's are on one tab, AB's are on another! See the bottom of the page to switch tabs.
