April 2023
Looking Ahead to the 2023-2024 School Year
This is the time of year that our staff begins the process of student/teacher assignments for the 2023-2024 school year. Your child’s classroom teacher, the grade-level teaching team, all of our specialists, and the administrative team each play a role in the process. We take into consideration readiness levels, student personalities, class size, student academic strengths and needs, and we strive for a class makeup that allows students to work together in a variety of ways.
While requests for specific teachers are not accepted, you are welcome to email Mr. Timmins by Friday, April 14, 2023, describing any additional information that you would like us to keep in mind as we complete the placement process.
Please keep in mind that we will only consider the following information from parents:
If an older child in your immediate family had a teacher and you’d like to request that a younger sibling not have the same teacher, please share this information.
If you have a separation request, please explain the situation and reason for the separation.
If there is information about how your child learns best that you feel is pertinent, please share this information.
While we do our best to accommodate each request, please keep in mind that no requests are guaranteed due to the complexities of the sectioning process. We do not accept requests for specific teachers or classrooms.
Factoring in all of the above variables as we create class lists is a delicate balancing act. We take great care with all of this and appreciate your understanding and support as we move through the planning process.

Upcoming Construction at Euclid and Wolf Intersection
The Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways will rehabilitate the intersection of Euclid Avenue & Wolf Road in 2023. Work will include removing and replacing the concrete pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk ramps, pavement markings, and traffic signal detector loops.
Motorists can expect delays during construction. The project will be completed in multiple stages that include various lane closures along both roadways. During one stage, the intersection will be closed with traffic required to follow a posted detour. The electronic message boards at the intersection will provide closure dates prior to this occurring.
Guidelines for Returning to School After Illness
Please keep the following in mind when deciding whether or not your child should go to school if they are or have recently been ill.
In an effort to help prevent the spread of illness, we ask that you keep your child home if he/she has suffered from any of the following within the last 24 hours:
- Fever of 100 degrees or higher
- Vomiting
- Sore throat with a fever
- Persistent cough
- Diarrhea (three or more episodes in last 24 hours)
- Rash or open sores
If your child has been recently ill, please consider the following before returning to school, athletic, or social activities:
- They should be fever free (without medication) and feeling well for a minimum of 24
- hours
- In cases of strep, they must be on an antibiotic and fever free for at least 24 hours
- In cases of conjunctivitis (pink eye), they must be on prescribed eye drops for 24
- hours or cleared by a physician to return
- Rash illnesses must be assessed by a physician
Please notify the school immediately if your child has been diagnosed with an infectious condition such as strep throat, conjunctivitis, chicken pox, pertussis, mono, etc.
Thank you for understanding that the health of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.
