Newsletter #35 - May 28, 2021
Memorial Day is Monday, May 31st.
In 2000, Congress passed the National Moment of Remembrance Act signed by President William Clinton. This act asks Americans everywhere to pause for one minute at 3:00pm Monday to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many. On Monday, you may choose to take time to observe this National Moment of Remembrance.
Nationwide we have been asked, as families and communities, to observe a moment of silence in recognition and honor, at 3 PM on Monday afternoon.Class of 2021 - Graduation News - Updates

196 Reads!
We are excited to announce a summer opportunity for all middle and high school students. 196 Reads! is a summer community book club being offered this summer to all 6-12 students. MS and HS teachers will partner up to cofacilitate one of eight different book groups with a mix of MS & HS students. Students will have the opportunity to choose from a list of 8 titles. The list of books and descriptions is included in this link:https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LaZ80COtOevSL0RBKKU9k3Z-yPVhNCYx61hTOZvuVFc/edit?usp=sharing
Book groups will meet virtually 3 times. Once as a meet and greet and to plan the group's schedule and twice to discuss the book. At the end of the summer, all participants will be invited to an ice cream celebration event. Students will receive a free copy of their chosen title and additional titles if they attend the celebration event.
English teachers will post the link to the Google sign up document on their Schoology pages.
Diffley Road School Area Safety Improvements
Due to the contractor construction calendar, there will be a closure of Diffley Road starting Monday, June 7. Detour Maps
We know that the earlier the construction starts, the better our chances will be of having construction near completion before students return to school on September 1.
Construction Began May 17!
Week of May 31
- Private utility relocations on Daniel Drive and Braddock Trail will continue. There are no planned disruptions to service at this time.
- Continue grading the new access road between Northview Elementary School and Dakota Hills Middle School.
- Storm sewer work will begin.
For the week of June 7 - 11 the contractors will maintain a gravel pathway as a crosswalk across Diffley Road on Braddock Trail. Please use care and caution as crossings are made. This will not be available starting June 14th.
There will be increased traffic on Northview Park Blvd. We will have 3 crossing guards placed at the intersections listed below from June 7-11. There will be no crossing guards at Diffley Road & Braddock Trail and EHS/DHMS driveway entrance June 7-11.
Northview Park Road & Clinton Trail
Northview Park Road & Savannah Road
Northview Park Road & Big Timber Trail
We will monitor the crossing locations the first couple days and adjust if needed.
