McKay High School Newsletter
October 30 -- November 3
Message from the Admin Team
Hello McKay Community! We are 7 weeks into the school year and we are seeing successes every day. Students who were struggling at the start of the year are finding their way, others are learning who their trusted adults are, and even better, students are having learning success! This is only possible because we are all working together!
Parents - please note, Student Led Conferences are coming up on November 1, 2. The schedule for conferences are included in the newsletter. Please mark your calendars to drop in during Student Led Conference times and learn more about how your student is doing. Students have already begun their presentations and we are all looking forward to seeing you.

Jallow named Athlete of the Week!
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, fromMcKay Boys Soccer, is Musa Jallow.
Musa, a senior, started as a defender but has moved to wing for the Scots who are 8-3-1 overall this season and ranked #6 in 5A. Coach Juan Llamas shared, “Musa is originally a starting left back for us but, due to the injury to his brother Abdoulie, Musa was put as an attacking winger.” In the 8-nil win over South Albany Musa had a four-goal haul and added an assist. “Musa was crucial to our attack and definitely opened my eyes as a potential starter as an attacking winger. His speed is something that other teams are concerned about.” Coach also added, “The very last goal of the game came off a penalty in which Musa could have kicked but he handed the ball over to another player who hadn’t scored a goal as a varsity player.”
McKay High School Speech and Debate Update
The McKay Speech and Debate team started their season this past weekend at Ida B. Wells High School in Portland Oregon. This group has more than doubled in size over the past year.
