Frankley School Newsletter

Thank you for making the time to answer the questions on the google form about our school vision. We will collate the information at the end of next week and share this with our community. If you haven’t filled it in yet please have your say and complete the form that was emailed to you by Thursday 22 August. The face to face meetings in the library have also been a positive way to gather voice. We have collected the voice of our Board of Trustees, Staff and SFRC. We will also be working with our students to find out their thoughts.

Frankley School is very excited to once again be a part of the Tātarakihi Primary Schools Cultural Festival. Our kapa haka rōpu will perform in the Whakangahau (non-competitive) section and be one of 35 schools involved. This year, the festival is being held on Friday 23rd August at City West Church which is a perfect location for us to have a big supporting audience of our whānau and peers. We wish our rōpu all the best for their performance next week. A big thank you to Matapaepae Urwin and Anna Trinder for preparing our children for this special celebration.

Good luck to our Frankley School chess teams that are competing at the Primary Schools Chess Tournament in Oakura next Friday. The team members are Ihaka Rei, Joel Siraa, Zandre Pretorius, William Bennett, Rebecca Greenfield, Hunter Andrews, Kayla Malone and Nael Siddiqui.

Our Frankley School Cross Country will be held on Tuesday 3 September. Our children are training enthusiastically. Our goal is to encourage a lifelong habit of being physical, and to maintain a level of fitness to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity is also really beneficial for our mental health. The cool thing about the Frankley School cross country is that there are a variety of ways to participate: competitive race, relays, fun run. More details will come out closer to the time in regards to start times. Please ensure they have appropriate clothing to run in.

This is also a great opportunity to get out there and train with your children in the weekends!

The safety of our children is paramount. I do ask that our car park is not used for dropping off in the mornings and picking up in the afternoons. The driveway gate is closed to ensure the safety of everyone entering and departing the school grounds. The parking is for our staff, volunteers and contractors during school hours. You are more than welcome to use the car park to pick up or drop your children off during the school day for appointments. Please do not park on the grass. Thank you for supporting us to look after our environment and our children. The bush track is also a great option in the mornings and afternoons.

The campaign is called “My School Rules” and 10 schools in the area have been chosen to be a part of this. Our school has been lucky enough to be chosen as one of the 10 schools. For the month of August, customers can collect as many points as possible over a four week period for the chance to win a major prize for the primary school of their choice. Every $20 spent at Centre City will equal one point towards their nominated school. We will have three major prizes for the schools with the most points:

1st Prize: $5,000

2nd Prize: $3,000

3rd Prize: $1,000

4th Prize: $500

5th Prize: $500

So if you are shopping in Centre City and spend $20.00 or more please nominate our school!!!

This is the Frobscottle. It was created by Te Pihinga. It is from the story The BFG which is Rhold Dahl. The BFG thinks that the drink tastes like strawberries and cream. It was a week ago that we made them. We are currently reading the BFG as a class novel. In my Frobscottle is green food colouring, raspberry flavour and a hint of peach juice with water. Beware when it will make you fart!

Reminder to any students enrolling for next year that are out of zone we require all forms in by Friday 30 August 2019. It would also be helpful to have any in zone as well as this will help with numbers to see if we can take any out of zone students.
