Dear Fulton Families,
By now you should have been able to see your child's homeroom teacher for this upcoming school year via your Family File. Also, be sure to be on the look out for a Welcome Message from your child's homeroom teacher this afternoon. Please note, when preparing classroom placements for this school year, staff consider the match of student and teacher, the blend of students within a room, and the balance of both classes academically, socially, culturally, and by gender. Additionally, we attempt to divide students as evenly as possible among classrooms. We are excited for this school year and the great learning that our students will engage in.
This newsletter is packed with a lot of information. We want to ensure you have all the information you need to help your child have a great start of the school year.
Please help us welcome your Fulton Falcon by sharing this welcome video from admin.
Warmly,
Dr. Burks, Mrs. Sillers, & Mrs. Brickner

Complete Your Family File Today!
It is time to update your child's Family File information in HCPSS Connect! Family File provides emergency contact and other important information for students within the Howard County Public School System. Completing Family File also ensures you are receiving importation information and updates for HCPSS and Fulton Elementary Elementary. This information must be updated EACH school year for EACH child.
A video tutorial that explains the Family File process and written Family File directions can be found below:
If you have not completed your Family File for the current school year, please complete the following as soon as possible:
- Log in to HCPSS Connect https://www.hcpss.org/connect/
- Select the Family File tab
- Then click on Family File
Once logged in, parents/guardians will be asked to provide or update the following information:
- Student information
- Parent/guardian contact
- Emergency contacts
- Medical information
- Arrival/dismissal procedures
- Media release (photo approval)
- Data confidentiality
- PTA/PTSA directory

Changes in School Lunch for SY22-23
Lunch
For the 2022-2023 school year, students whose families do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will be required to pay the daily meal price.
- Breakfast - $2.00
- Lunch - $2.80
To get breakfast and lunch, your child will be assigned a pin number. We ask that you practice with your child at home so they confidently order their breakfast/lunch during the school day.

Outdoor Seating
Each class will eat lunch outdoors on a rotating basis as determined by the color rotation. Please review this link for more details.
Chromebooks Changes
For the past two years, we have been a one-to-one school with Chromebook computer devices.
This year, students will be sharing devices in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Chromebooks that were assigned to students in the past have been unassigned.
If your child had an assigned Chromebook to use during a HCPSS summer program, please return the Chromebook and charger to our Media Center during Open House or the first day of school.
School Supply List
- Still need school supplies? FES SY22-23 Supply List
- If you ordered school supplies through PTA in the spring, your child's supplies will be on their desks at Open House.
- Need financial support to purchase school supplies? Please email Mrs. Beth Shields (elizabeth_shields@hcpss.org) and we’ll make sure your child has a set of school supplies.
