Yesterday was our first full snow day in a few years, and I hope you had a chance to enjoy time with your families, or snuggled up with a great book!
Just a few notes about scheduling related to the snow day:
- The snow make-up day is Friday February 16, 2024
- Monday, January 22nd is a Day 2 on the Encore Rotation
- 2/16 and 2/20 will both be Day 1

THE GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE BEGINS MONDAY
We kick-off this Monday with Superhero Day! Students are invited to wear their favorite superhero shirts, and our PTA is hosting the Omega Man Assembly! Let kindness spread throughout the week with daily challenges and reminders that when we ROAR with Pride we are kind to OURSELVES, OTHERS, and the WORLD AROUND US!
Please join me in congratulating our Cooper Artists for being selected to participate in the Superintendent's Art Exhibit. It was such a joy to welcome families to the art exhibit and to see how excited the students were to share. Thank you Mrs. Siegel for continuing to inspire creativity in all our Jaguars!
VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to encourage kindness & compassion. Although we don't host Valentine parties, we know how much our students enjoy sharing Valentine cards. Your child's teacher will provide some time for the children to "deliver" cards to their classmates. If your child would like to bring Valentine Cards to school, please keep the following in mind:
- Student Valentine Cards MAY NOT include candy or food items
- If a student wishes to give out valentine cards, they need to have enough for the whole class.
- The teacher may give out a class list with first names only, or students can simply sign each card without addressing it to a specific person.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS FOR THE COMMUNITY
CHPS has partnered with Care Solace to provide free Mental Health Supports to our students, staff, and families. The Care Solace team can quickly connect you to verified providers in our community. Purpose & Passion
MATH RESOURCES & QUICK LINKS
Our incredible Math Coach, Kim DeYoung has put together quick links to support you and your child in accessing materials at home. These were shared during our family math day in the fall and are valuable resources for navigating the math programs. Please click here for access to these resources.
ST MATH
We are getting closer to our school goal of 25% average journey progress! Check out the JiJi Progress Update here. When our average journey progress reaches 25%, we will have met our school goal and students will have the opportunity to vote on a schoolwide celebration. Be sure to encourage your child to spend 10-15 minutes each day on ST Math!!!
BLACK HISTORY READ IN
During the month of February, our students will be learning about how their families' cultures and traditions help to shape who they are today. On February 23, 2024 we will participate in a Black History Month Read In as honor Black and African American literature and writers. We would like to invite volunteers to read books about cultural identity to a class or grade-level. Students will also enjoy learning about how your personal experiences shaped you to become who you are today.
If you are interested in joining us, be on the look-out for a sign-up in the near future!
