May 2023 Newsletter
Dear Rainiers,
With only two months left in the school year, there is still so much the teachers are eager to cover with students and so many events to look forward to before our last day on June 27.
April was a busy month. We enjoyed having close to 200 participants at our Family Math Night (Nachos and Numbers). Special thanks to Mrs. Dattilo and Ms. Forde-Nihipali for hosting the event. There were math stations in classrooms, a chance to earn prizes and a delicious dinner catered by Qdoba. The night concluded with an assembly from the Reptile Man. Thank you to our fabulous PTO for sponsoring the Reptile Man and for hosting the Book Fair.
We had the pleasure of having the JBLM Brass Band play for our school last month. Pictured below are the Leadership students posing with the band. Additionally, the Leadership students had the privilege to interview and provide tours to the four Superintendent Candidates. The students did a phenomenal job representing our school and I am so proud of them. The month concluded with our Showcase event that was very well attended, hosting the School Board Meeting and the Spring Fling Middle School Dance. Mrs. Hoversten's Middle School Art Club did an outstanding job presenting our school poem, Mrs. Hight's Class had six students work with board directors on solving math problems and leadership students provided tours to new families during our Open House.
In May, we are excited to celebrate our teachers during their special appreciation week, show what we know by taking the state tests, the kick off to our end of the year begins with the ABC Countdown and watching several students perform in the Talent Show.
Let's hope May brings the sunshine our way. Have a happy month.
Kind Regards,
Principal Burslem
