Updates from Mrs. Feltner
December 8, 2023
Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary!
A beautiful reminder for all of us:
“The month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Chosen before time to be the Mother of God Incarnate, Jesus Christ, God created Mary perfect, full of grace, preserving her from the stain of Original Sin. Mary Immaculate is the most beautiful fruit of the work of the redemption accomplished by her Son, thereby making her the perfect model of holiness for all Christians.” (Bishop Robert Barron)
An Advent Prayer for children:
My little Lord Jesus, I love You and thank You for this Advent season. Please help me to understand all that You have done for me. Your loving mother held You in her heart and brought
You into this world. Help me to do the same.
My loving Jesus, I choose You, this Advent, as my King and my God. Draw me close to You and help me to see my sins so that I can change the things that You want me to change.
Mother Mary, pray for me this Advent so that I may do all that God wants me to do. You said “Yes” to all that God asked of you. Please pray for me that I may do the same.
Come, Lord Jesus,
Come, Lord Jesus,
Come, Lord Jesus, come!
I love You, Jesus.
Amen.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you and God bless,
Ann M Feltner
Important Message from Nurse Becca
Dear Saint Peter’s Catholic School Families,
Please continue to email your child’s teacher and myself (rclarke@charlestondiocese.org) if your child is sick. Part of my job is to track illnesses within our school family, so your communication is important.
If your child is feverish (100.3 F and above) please keep them at home. Generally, children can return once they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications) AND feel well enough to participate in school.
Please consider the health of fellow classmates and teachers when sending your child back to school after an illness. If your child is coughing incessantly or cannot adequately wipe their nose, another day or two at home may be warranted. This is especially true in our younger grades, where our students share tables. I understand coughs and congestion can linger. Contact me if this is the case, and we can figure out a plan of care.
Per the Diocese of Charleston policy, all over the counter medication given during school hours require a Medication Authorization Form to be filled out and signed by a parent/guardian. Over the counter medication cannot be taken for three (3) or more consecutive days without also having a licensed healthcare provider’s signature. All prescription medication requires a Medication Authorization Form to be filled out and signed by parent/guardian and the licensed healthcare provider who prescribed the medication.
If your child needs to take any medication during school hours, the Medication Authorization Form (attached below) and the medication must be brought to the school office by a parent/guardian. Do not send medication in a student’s backpack. All OTC medication must be unopened and in its original packaging. All prescription medication must be in its original container with a pharmacy label.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend,
Nurse Becca

They "are charitable actions by which we help our neighbors in their bodily needs" (USCCA). They respond to the basic needs of humanity as we journey together through this life.

Spirit Night- Fat Patties Dec. 19th
Spirit Night will be Tuesday, Dec. 19th at Fat Patties from 5:00 pm til 7:00 pm.
Fat Patties will generously give 10% of all sales back to our school! Tell your family, friends, neighbors. It will be a good night to not worry about cooking dinner.
What is a Spirit Night?
Spirit Nights are fundraisers for the PTO and the school that are conducted at local restaurants and businesses. It is not a mandatory event, but staff and families are encouraged to participate as this is a great opportunity to support our school and local businesses in our community.
You don't have to cook dinner and a portion of the money from the sales goes back to Saint Peter's. It is a win, win!

Events Around Town
Wishing our Cardinals a very happy Birthday!
Madison Cowden
Pre-K3
This week in Pre-K3, our theme was gingerbread. We read and retold the story of The Gingerbread Man and made our own directed drawings of gingerbread boys and girls. We ended our gingerbread unit with a gingerbread hunt around the school. He was too fast, but he did leave us some yummy treats.
Mrs. Shepard's Pre-K4
This week in Mrs. Shepard's Pre-K4 class, the students learned about Saint Nicholas, made ornaments for our Jesse Tree, and learned about foods that come from trees. We also got to celebrate Madison's 5th birthday!
Mrs. Heightland's Pre-K4
This week in Mrs. Heightland's Pre-K4 class, our class worked on letter C, name writing, and celebrated Saint Nicholas's day.
Kindergarten
It is the most wonderful time of the year!
K5 had lots of fun working with our 6th grade “buddies” with a fun holiday drawing activity.
Saint Nicholas day was on December 6th. We enjoyed watching the story of Saint Nicholas. We also had a visit from Saint Nicholas who filled our shoes with delicious treats.
1st Grade
1st graders learn to measure using nonstandard units and enjoy Christmas shopping at Santa’s Workshop!
2nd Grade
The 2nd grade teamed up with the third grade for reading this week! They enjoyed having a reading buddy and experienced sharing a book and a story with their buddy.
3rd Grade
This week, 3rd grade was given the honor of being able to decorate the school's Christmas tree. They enjoyed working on their teamwork skills to find the perfect spot for each ornament.
4th Grade
In preparation for Christmas the students are making hand painted Advent wreath placemats, with a prayer poem blessing, Christmas trees, stockings, ornaments, and cards.
4th Grade's Colonial Day! They really enjoyed their own homemade bread and butter!
Many of our 4th graders joined the Children's singing Christmas Carols for the Tour of Homes!
With the beautiful Fall weather the 4th grade enjoyed Science class outside on Thursday.
5th Grade
5th grade students enjoyed shopping at the Santa gift shop. One of our students was so excited to share his knowledge of World War I. And students got a special treat on the Saint Nicholas day.
6th Grade
6th grade enjoyed hosting the second annual Santa’s Workshop. They were able to help the younger students pick out gifts for their loved ones and help them wrap their items. Sixth grade students had to learn how to take inventory, set up displays, and help students figure out if they had enough money to purchase all the gifts on their wish lists. It was a great math lesson!

Saint of the Week- Saint Nicholas
The absence of “hard historical facts” is not necessarily an obstacle to the popularity of saints, as the devotion to Saint Nicholas shows. Both the Eastern and Western Churches honor him, and it is claimed that after the Blessed Virgin, he is the saint most pictured by Christian artists.
