Dear OMS families,

It seems like just yesterday we welcomed our students back to the nest and we are already one week away from winter break. Next week, our teachers will continue to be on their A-game but have been encouraged to sprinkle some extra fun into their week. On Thursday and Friday, we will have our annual Storytime with the Principals. Due to space limitations and a maximum capacity of 50 people in the Commons, we have divided the day into 30-minute blocks of time. Our students will listen to two of our favorite stories this year and receive a small token to bring home to remind them that we are thinking of them during our time away from the nest. For those students who are fully remote, please use the link below to join us on Zoom either Thursday OR Friday. For students who are at home in the hybrid model (Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday), classroom teachers will be assigning an asynchronous activity.

Finally, we would like to thank the parents that have reached out to us to volunteer as the need arises. If you are interested in volunteering to help us, please let us know. All volunteers that work with students must be fingerprinted and have a background check completed by the district office. At this time we are mostly looking for help during the lunch/recess hour when we return to full in-person learning.

Dear Olive Families,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for helping me to keep our school community healthy and safe this past few months. You have been amazing at informing me of illness and understanding the need to stay home at times. I know this year has been different in so many ways, but I appreciate your support through it all.

As we approach Winter Break, I want to encourage you to continue down this path of open communication with me. Please contact me with illness, exposure, or travel plans over break so I may appropriately screen everyone for return to school in January. I will periodically check email throughout winter break to help you with any questions or concerns that may come up.

The ABC/25 Foundation is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1991 by a group of caring parents to give A Better Community for District 25, hence the name ABC/25 Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is “To foster innovation, creativity, and excellence for the children of District 25.”

Over the past 24 years, the Foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 students and teachers. The ABC/25 Foundation directly impacts the educational environment to better prepare our children for the future.

We know that times are tough for many families and we are here to help and support you and your children. Food distribution will continue for all Arlington Heights residents with children 18 and under! Details are below (*notes a change has been made):

• Day: Every Wednesday
• Times: *9:30 am – 10:30 am* & 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
• Where: Thomas Middle School ONLY
• Who: All Arlington Heights families with students age 18 and under
• Important Notes: *Neighbors or friends are allowed to come pick up meal bags for you from Thomas Middle School.*
