3/4/5 Classes Update
The 2022-2023 school year was the first year that Stony Point students in grades 3-5 were grouped in grade-banded homeroom classes (3/4 classes, 4/5 classes) due to staffing allocations. We analyzed data to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of this model. We are excited to continue what is working well (gains in reading achievement, students forming friendships across grade levels, and having multiple staff members wrap around and support our students) while addressing what wasn't working as well in this structure.
We have received approval for additional staffing to add another classroom teacher at Stony Point, which will allow us to return to the traditional classroom model. We are in the midst of the hiring process and will provide an update soon introducing our new teacher!
Class Assignments and Transportation Route Information
Transportation route information will be available in Parent Portal on Thursday 8/10. If you are able to provide transportation for your child and are no longer in need of a bus route, please contact Kristi Thomas at kthomas3@k12albemarle.org.
