Good Afternoon NCC Families,
This is Principal Wallace-Kimbrue with your Sunday Updates. Thank you to all of the parents that were able to attend last week's 3rd Grade Principal's Coffee on Wednesday. In case you missed it, a "Recap" of the meeting will be published on the school website later this week.

From MCPS - School Year Calendar Input Needed
MCPS is seeking input about the 2024–2025 school year calendar! Please take a moment to complete the MCPS School Calendar 2024-2025 Feedback. Your input will be used to select the first and last day of school, as well as other important dates for the coming school year.
From MCPS- Student Handbook
Handbooks and guidelines developed for students of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) have been revised for the 2023–2024 school year to address Board policies and MCPS regulations amended and revised over the 2022–2023 school year and comply with updated guidance from the Maryland State Department of Education. Updated online versions of A Student's Guide to Rights and Responsibilities, the Student Code of Conduct in MCPS, and Guidelines for Student Gender Identity are available on the MCPS website.

The PTA has an urgent need for volunteers! Please see below and contact Rita at president@nccpta.org to volunteer:
Spirit Wear: The PTA needs volunteers to create a spirit wear flyer; collect orders; organize the items upon arrival; drop them off to NCC.
Game Night (December): Organize an evening of fun for NCC families to celebrate the end of 2023 with games, snacks and other fun.
Cultural Arts Day (January): Organize an in-school celebration of music, art, drama, creative writing, photography and dance through a lens of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Grant Writers: There are a number of grant opportunities available for this year and next year's programs.

MCPS will provide students with a take home Chromebook. Students, parents, and MCPS staff can use this link below to request a home use Chromebook for MCPS students who do not have access to a personal or home device and are attending a school, and grade level, returning to a classroom Chromebook cart model. Requesting the device implies consent of use in accordance with MCPS policy (IGT-RA) and acknowledgement that the Chromebook, software, and issued peripherals are owned by MCPS. SGA Election Season Begins!
See the NCC website for more information related to our Student Government Association election process. The focus of the SGA is on community service and school spirit. Letters of Interest from SGA Officer Candidates are due Sept. 26, 2023 to the Media Center. SGA Officers include SGA President, Grade Level Vice Presidents, and Communications Manager. Homeroom class representatives will be selected in the coming weeks. The sponsors of the SGA are Ms. Queen, Ms. Niel, and Mrs. Mosley-Ramsey.
