OLVCS Updates
December 13th, 2023
Dear OLVCS Parents and Friends,
The Christmas Concert was wonderful. I would like to thank Mrs. Sherry Capozzi, Mrs. Sandy Muller, Mrs. Patrese Huff and Mrs. Sally Minnich for their work in preparing the students, it was simply beautiful.
It seems the perfect time of year to also thank Mrs. Mary Cawley, Mrs Rosemary Weber, Mrs. Patty Houtz and Mr. Terry Stec. Each has their own unique job, but together are the backbone of the school. I am grateful for all they do, not only for me, but the students and families.
Next week will fly by with Christmas preparations and parties, among the busy and chaos I hope that you find moments of peace and joy.
Make it a Great Day!
Samantha

Boys and Girls Teams Battle Bellefonte This Week
This week both our girls and boys basketball teams took on the Red Raiders. On Monday, the girls played at home. With solid scoring by Arianna McCleary, Sydnee Mikesic, and Claire Peters, and strong supportive play by Vale Kauffman, Maya Edmonson, Annie Hyman, and Olivia Manno, the Crusaders were able to top the Red Raiders, 47 – 31.
On Tuesday, the boys team traveled to Bellefonte. 7th grader, Max Vendemia, and 8th graders, Owen Badger, and Jacob Andreyo led the offensive and scored a total of 25 points. But, this was not enough to top the Red Raiders. The game ended 45 – 25, Red Raiders. Despite the loss, it is clear that “the boys are getting better each week,” said Coach Gio Vendemia.
Next week, both teams take on Mount Nittany for a second time and Belleville for the first time. The girls’ game will be played at Saint Joseph’s on Thursday at 4PM. All are invited to begin the Christmas break by coming out and supporting our girls’ team!

Christmas Season Fun and Giving Is Happening at Saint Joe’s
Last week, the Saint Joseph’s House Council started the "Twelve Days of Christmas" to mark the final dozen school days before break. Each day has brought a touch of holiday cheer, including "Tinsel Tuesday" and "Pies and Ties". Saint Joseph’s students and faculty celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception with Mass together on Friday and shared some wintry fun on Saturday with the second annual Frosty Fest on Saturday. Students also brought in toys for Toys for Tots, in support of the service project for seniors, Samantha Zally and Sam Krazowitz. This week included “Deck the Halls” during which students decorated the hallways with House colors, and “Flannel Friday.” Saint Joseph’s begins the Christmas Break on Wednesday, December 20th.
