WHEN YOU NEED A PEP TALK...
You can show youtube videos to classes without the ads by using SafeShare tv (the link created only lasts for an hour without an account), or by putting a hyphen between the 't' and 'u' in youtube, as in https://www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=G8iYB3jda6o
WEBINAR WITH INDIANA TOY SHARITA WARE ON APRIL 11
Surprising Lessons from Indiana Schools and COVID "Learning Loss"
Until I saw this same article in my local paper, I did not even know that such a study existed. Economist Michael Hicks from Ball State explains, " The results were surprising and largely positive — or, at least, more hopeful than I expected." You can also read the entire study here.

Review Period Open to Comment on New Science/CS Standards
Educators, parents, professionals, and the general public are invited to comment on the proposed Indiana science and computer science standards up for adoption. The comment period is open through April 8. There are standards from kindergarten all the way through Physics II.
SPEAKING OF COMPUTER SCIENCE...
Indiana’s first-ever CSPDWeek sponsored by the National Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), the Indiana CSTA Chapter, Nextech, and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) will be June 27-July 1 in Bloomington. This free PD with stipend (and free room and board for those living over 50 miles away) has a choice of several workshops and some follow-up responsibilities for incorporating the resources into next year's teaching. Find more information on topics and how to register here. Classroom teachers, librarians, and others who incorporate CS are eligible to attend.
The roadmap at the right can be downloaded by clicking on the file below. It shows the steps to become a Unified Champion School, and includes clickable links.
For example, Greensburg Junior High is having in-person Inclusive Youth Leadership training on March 29. Champions Together is also still offering whole school assemblies- both in person and virtual. They can also do multiple assemblies in one day to accommodate numbers with individual school COVID regulations.
There is still time to begin the program this year; you can also learn more on our website.

SUMMER HISTORY OPPORTUNITIES FROM GILDER LEHRMAN
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History offers three different types of PD this summer:
- 21 Different Virtual Teacher Seminars (fee $25, registration not open as of 3/28)
- In-person Symposium in Gettysburg, July 9-12 (fee)
- In-person "Reframing Lincoln Symposium" in Springfield, IL, July 25-29 (deadline to apply is April 1, lodging and food provided)
The latter two require that your school is an affiliate member of Gilder Lehrman, which is free (and many Indiana schools already are.) You can also see an overview here.
AND SPEAKING OF HISTORY...
The Indiana competition for National History Day on April 30 could use more judges; you do not have to be a social studies teacher, and training will be provided. The contest will be at Marian University from approximately 8 am to 2 pm, and you will have a chance to interact with students. For more information, see the flyer below.
