The Library At Stratford

We have been distributing laptops & hotspots and ensuring students are effective users by helping them get logged into Schoology! If you do not have a laptop, email diane.chen@mnps.org or have your teachers email the library. If you have lost your laptop, the district policy requires a payment of $200 for laptops and $15 for chargers. If you need to report a stolen laptop, call the MNPS non-emergency number to file your report. Then send the police incident number to the school.

We will roll out more support materials and digital citizenship lessons as soon as we can. We are excited to begin teaching and will have asynchronous lessons available for students on our course called The Library At Stratford. Be sure to email and ask for help with gathering resources, lessons, and more. We work closely with the Nashville Public Library and are excited to soon be sharing videos on how to access Digital Resources.

Our library is open daily from 6:30 am until 4:00 pm.

For all students:

Limitless Libraries is a collaborative relationship between the Nashville Public Library and MNPS school libraries. They provide many wonderful things to our school and deliver books to school during non-Covid times. Currently you can request items for curbside pickup at 8 NPL locations.

Students login with their 190 ID number and their four digit (MMDD) month/day birthday. Students can check out books for three weeks at a time. DVDs are checked out for only one week at a time. Students can request items be delivered to Stratford. The library staff will notify you or deliver as soon as they arrive.

If you want to narrow your search results and only see the audiobooks, for example,

• Under "All Resources," select "Audiobooks" to see what digital audiobooks your school owns.

Check out the one you want.

• Read or listen on your MNPS device.
• Or, download the MackinVIA app to read or listen to books on your phone or tablet.
• The book will automatically be returned on the due date, or you may select "return early."

NoodleTools gives secondary students a systematic but flexible framework for navigating research. It allows students to cite, archive and evaluate sources, organize notes, and outline. Students will be able to collaborate with teachers and their peers in real time. Teachers will also be able to track student’s progress and provide real-time feedback. Ask your librarian for more information!

• If you haven'tlogged in to Clever yet, make sure to open the desktop folder MyMNPS and click on your Clever link.
• Students can access this portal and it will automatically log them into almost everything, including Schoology and Office365Webmail

ComicsPlus, powered by LibraryPass, is a digital platform offering thousands of digital comics, graphic novels and manga to readers through school, public, and academic libraries. You can access titles using a smartphone, tablet, or web browser, and can be downloaded to multiple devices. There is never a wait to read, all titles are unlimited access simultaneous use. Go to MackinVIa, click the databases to find ComicsPlus, and begin reading. You can download the Mackinvia app or the ComicsPlus app to make things easier. The library has leadership opportunities. We need students to lead and organize our Book Clubs this year, including Project Lit meetings, before school or after school clubs like Girls Who Code and so much more. Talk to Ms Chen if you are interested or email diane.chen@mnps.org

Libby is a free app that allows NPL/Limitless Libraries patrons to log in and check out NPL ebooks/audiobooks.

There is a free app for that: Libby Overdrive in the Apple store / GooglePlay / Microsoft store.

Ms Chen leads the library for both campuses, working Upper Campus hours MWF from 6:30-2 and Lower Campus TTh 8:30-4 in person. She is a native of Washta, Iowa. Here she is holding her dog Benji who loves to show up on TEAMS calls.

Mrs. Douglas is a Nashville native and graduated from Stratford High. She has worked as a middle and high school library clerk, as a book processor for the Library Services Department, a guidance clerk, and a registrar. Mrs. Douglas always has a smile, and she goes out of her way to help our patrons. She has a great sense of humor and often tricks Ms Chen into thinking she is serious.
