Apologies in Advance!
Literacy
I am excited to start our reading group rotations soon! After looking at the assessment data, your child will be in a small group with up to five other students receiving small group instruction at his or her level. Reading groups are fluid - meaning new groups are formed every few weeks based on student needs, strengths, and struggles.
I will go over all assessment data with you during parent-teacher conferences. However, if you have any urgent questions or concerns - please feel free to reach out sooner!
Spelling
Extra at-home practice helps the brain transition facts from short-term memory into long-term storage. At-home practice can also be as simple as you practicing words in the car while driving or cooking dinner!
Math
We are currently working on Topic 8 - Use strategies and properties to add and subtract, and round to the nearest 10 or 100. This unit is heavily vocabulary based. Students are always welcome to use notes on the test to support their learning. I shared with our students I look if they can apply what they know to solve the problem, rather than memorizing the vocabulary. After iReady math testing is complete, students will take the Topic 8 math test the week of September 6th. Below are resources students can use to review.
