What to expect this week.

Front doors will open at 7:15am. First bell rings at 8:15am. when students arrive on campus, they will go to the Gym, until they are released to class.
Students who arrive after the 8:15am bell, will receive a Tardy. Unless they have arrived to school on a late bus.
May 5th & 6th - STAAR Testing. Closed Campus

The student of the week is Alexander Akinboye nominated by Mr. Andrews.

Citizenship

Alex is always willing to help in when needed. He will help pick up trash in the cafeteria without having to be asked. He is a respectful young man who has a positive attitude. He represents everything it is to be a Charger. – John Andrews

The Student of the Week is Fernanda Ruiz nominated by the Ms. Galvan.

"I am nominating Fernanda Ruiz because she is a kind and joyful student. She loves dance and helps encourage her friends to stay on task. She always asks questions to make sure she knows the choreography and to see if I need help with anything."

Teacher Appreciation Week - PTO

8th Grade - End of Year Celebration aka Play Day

The 8th grade play day will be on Monday, May 16th, at Typhoon Texas. Permission slips and money are due by Friday, May 6th. The $30 ticket includes transportation, entry, lunch, dessert, and unlimited soft drinks. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the selection of their child’s swimsuit to ensure their attire is not loose fitting, revealing, or has ties/strings. We are looking forward to a great day to celebrate our 8th grader’s as they prepare for high school! Any questions about this trip can be sent to the 8th grade Assistant Principal, Derek Getschow, at derek.getschow@lcisd.org .

Attention 7th graders: Now is the time to register for the 2023 Washington DC and New York City Trip!

Attention 7th graders: Now is the time to register for the 2023 Washington DC and New York City Trip! The dates of the trip will be March 10-14, 2023.

Don’t miss this trip of a lifetime. We will visit Times Square, Central Park, see a Broadway show and an NBA game, the Smithsonian Museums, the White House, and so much more! We will even eat some of the best New York Pizza! Please see the attached trip registration sheet for more information. If you have any questions, please see Coach Walters. Attention Parents and Students interested in going on the 2023 New York City and Washington DC trip: There are only 24 spots remaining for the trip. If you want to guarantee a spot on the trip, make sure you register soon! Students who register after these 24 spots will be added to the wait list. If more space becomes available, students on the waitlist will be added to the trip roster.

•Think for a moment about the amazing staff at Leaman. Who is working hard for students? Nominate a teacher or staff member that you would like to recognize for their hard work in the Be the One survey.

•Each week the results will be gathered. They will then be shared with staff members during Tuesday department meetings or Wednesday staff meetings.

Federal Report Cards

Leaman Junior High School is sharing the below information about the district and your child’s campus with you as part of its obligations under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Federal Report Cards for the state, the district, and each of the district’s campuses are now available on the district’s website at this link: https://www.lcisd.org/departments/academics/raa/performance-reports-and-legal-postings or are also available on the Texas Education Agency’s website at: https://tea.texas.gov/finance-and-grants/grants/essa-program/federal-report-card. A detailed description of these reports is enclosed.

If you have difficulty accessing the information from the website, hard copies of the reports can be requested from the district or campus office. If you have questions about the information, please contact Leaman Junior High School at 832-223-5200 or the Lamar CISD Research, Assessment, & Accountability Office at 832-223-0138.
