Summerour Blue Devil Blast

Volume 2, Issue 37 - April 28, 2023
In Memory of Mr. Mike
This week's Blue Devil Blast is dedicated to Mr. Mike. OUR school lost a beloved custodian on Monday morning. Mr. Mike worked hard, without complaint, for many years at Summerour and was beloved by all who knew him.
We will miss OUR Mr. Mike!
GMAS Testing This Week
We are continuing GMAS testing next week.
Please, help your student to do their best on the test by ensuring they get a good night's sleep, a good breakfast, and are ready to focus each day. Do what you can at home to ease your child's fears about testing: we've been learning all year long. They should be ready! Help them come in to school at ease and prepared to show what they know.
Don't forget to have students bring fully-charged computers and their charger.

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of watching three AHHH-MAZING Social Studies educators help students review for the EOG. Dr. Riehm, Ms. Rashada, and Ms. Caravella kept students engaged in Georgia Studies for over two hours on a Saturday morning.
Also, shout out to Ms. Huong and OUR 6th grade Honor orchestra students. They did a wonderful job along with students and staff from six other middle schools in the county (Pinckneyville, Radloff, Lilburn, Berkmar, Sweetwater, and Shiloh) playing for friends and family.
Summerour is so fortunate to have such dedicated educators.

Have You Tried the Apps?
ParentVUE App
Parents can use this if they have a Parent Portal account. It's an app that makes it much easier to quickly access the portal and navigate student grades, absences, etc...
We strongly encourage you to use this if you have a portal account. If you don't have a portal account, come to the school and set one up.
Uninstall/Reinstall
If you are using either of these apps, but it quit working in September of 2022, you may need to uninstall/reinstall. There was a major update last month that requires this.
StudentVUE App
Students can install this on their iOS device (iPhone, iPad) or their Android device to more easily access the "My StudentVUE" portion of their portal: this includes, grades, missing assignments, etc.
