Ssssshhhhh Testing in Progress
Referrals and Whole-Grade Screenings (Info from the ODE website)
Screening for gifted identification occurs when districts evaluate students using an instrument approved for gifted identification. Typically, these screenings are the result of a referral for evaluation or whole-grade screening opportunity.
Districts must provide at least two opportunities per year for the evaluation of students referred for gifted identification. Parents, guardians, teachers or peers may refer district students in grades K-12 for gifted identification. Students also may refer themselves. After an initial referral for gifted identification, school districts must evaluate the student within 90 days.
A whole-grade screening occurs when a district tests all students in a particular grade level for gifted identification. The Operating Standards for Identifying and Serving Students Who are Gifted (Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15) requires districts to provide whole-grade screenings in the areas of superior cognitive ability, specific academic ability reading/writing, specific academic ability mathematics, and creative thinking ability once during the K-2 grade band and once again during the 3-6 grade band. Districts must use assessments approved for gifted identification to meet this requirement.

Welcome to another season of Kilgour Basketball!
League play is available to 2nd through 6th grade teams. For children younger than 2nd grade, the Friday night Pony League will serve as a proper introduction to the sport and set them up for league play. Pony League registration, schedule and capacity will be announced following completed league registration in mid-October.
The CPYBL offers three levels of competitive play - Rec, High Rec and Athletic. Rec and High Rec teams play a 10 game schedule. Athletic teams play a 20 game schedule. A postseason tournament includes all teams 3rd grade and older regardless of record. Athletic rosters are determined by competitive tryouts. High rec teams are determined by coaches, parents and KSB Basketball Coordinator based on participation, skill level and interest. We will determine how many teams and in what divisions they participate following registrations. Please note that athletic tryouts are only offered for 4th, 5th and 6th grade players based on level of interest.
Final team decisions will be based on many factors but is largely based on how many kids register. Each team should have a minimum of 7 players and maximum of 10 players. Practice schedules will be determined based on player registrations and gym availability. Unfortunately, gym time is very difficult to obtain outside of Kilgour's facility. We try our best to get each team two practices per week but have been unable to do so for 2nd and 3rd grade teams in recent years.
Family Discount
If you are registering more than one player in your family, you will receive a $5 discount on the 2nd (3rd + all additional children) registration fee. In order for the registration system to recognize that you are registering multiple players, please register all of your players at this time. On the Review Page, there is a link near the bottom to "Register Another Player" - please click on this link to ensure that all of your players are registered within the same order.
***Failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of your Family's Discount rates.***
Scholarships Available
KSB offers full scholarships (registration and uniform fees) for Kilgour students with a financial need. All scholarships are given with full confidentiality. Option to select scholarship is part of registration but you will need to contact KSB Basketball Coordinator for further instructions before checking out.
Register on the KSB website by clicking HERE and following the steps on the website.

Be Heard... Take the CPS Fall Climate Survey
Love Your School? Tell Us Why and Provide Additional Feedback to Make Our Schools Better!
We know our staff, students and families love our schools. We also know there is always room for improvement. Last school year, CPS launched a new Climate Survey through Panorama that helps our district and school administrators evaluate what is working, areas needing focus and recognizing how our district stacks up against other similar districts across the nation.
CPS wants to hear from you!
As part of our ongoing effort to gather comprehensive feedback from staff, students and families, CPS is conducting its online climate survey Oct. 2 -13, 2023. The climate survey asks questions about your experiences with academics, behavior and culture that will help CPS make informed decisions, impacting the way the district educates Cincinnati’s children. The Fall 2023 survey will also help us monitor progress compared to previous years.
The survey will only take a few minutes to complete - all responses are anonymous. Feedback will be provided to the school and will help shape the future of Kilgour.
Fall Survey Window - Oct. 2, 2023 through October 13, 2023
- Staff will receive an email from Panorama with a unique link to the survey.
- Students will take their survey at school.
- Parents & Guardians can take the survey at surveys.panoramaed.com/cincinnati/fall2023family
Thank you in advance for helping us better prepare students for life!
