MCSD 2023-2024 K-12 ELA Resources
Programs and Resources
Below grade-level performance in ELA
Teachers and students struggled last year with our ELA materials in grades K-12. This is a direct result of the grade level expectations of each program and the B.E.S.T. Standards they represent. Teachers and students have not been held to this standard of rigor for years, as our ELA curriculum did not support it. To move forward we must not allow the rigor to be compromised. In order to improve and catch up with the rest of the state of Florida, we must not give up on the new programs, we must keep scaffolding where necessary, but keeping the grade level expectations in the forefront.
