Welcome Back to School!

On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome back to school for 2015-2016! It has been a very smooth opening. Thank you all for your team efforts as we work together to support the children at Oakview.

Tips for a successful school year include:

- Checking the school web site and calendar regularly

- Obtaining your Parent Portal log in information

- Checking your child’s book bag daily

- Reading Monday Memos and teacher web site content

- Providing a protected time and space for homework completion

- Communicating frequently with your child’s teacher

Oakview Receives $3,000 for Archery Instruction!

Oakview P.E. teachers, Jen Miller and Kenny Hall, attended the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources NASP Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) Training over the summer. They are now certified presenters of NASP® lessons that are safe for students, instructors, bystanders, and the facility. As a result of their training, Oakview received $3,000 worth of archery equipment!

Welcome back Oakview families! It is hard to believe how quickly the first few weeks of school have flown by. The PTA has been hard at work processing all of the forms that you filled out and are thrilled with the response! It was wonderful to see all of the new faces at the Volunteer Breakfast last week and we look forward to a great year ahead where we can work together with the students and teachers to "Celebrate! 20 Years of Excellence!"

Are you a Dad? An Uncle? Maybe a Grandpa? Then, come join us for the 3rd annual Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Pizza Night Kick-off Event on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00 pm. You will receive an invitation in your child’s folder the week of 9/7/15. Please be sure to RSVP – we want to have enough food for all. Lace up your sneakers... it's almost time for Boosterthon! While raising funds for Oakview, students learn the value of fitness and sportsmanship, and have a great time along the way! This year's theme is "Big World Recess," and our students will be taken around the world to see teamwork, curiosity, practice humility, confidence, and endurance in action. All students will be given a T-shirt; forms with requested sizes should be returned by Friday, September 4. Mark your calendars for the Pep Rally on Tuesday, September 29 and the Fun Run on Thursday October 8!

The National PTA Reflections program is PTA’s cornerstone arts program. For over 50 years Reflections has allowed students to explore their creativity and talents through various art forms. Inspired each year by a specific theme, students may submit entries in Literature, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Film Production, and Music Composition.

This year’s theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly”.
Deadline for entries are October 13 and 14 from 7:30-8:30 am and 2:30-3:30 pm in the cafeteria.
