STUDENT ITEMS AND MATERIALS DISTRIBUTION

Teachers have worked hard to box up all the items. They are in the gym in ABC order and ready for pick up on Thursday, May 7th from 8am-5pm.

Student Materials Pick Up Schedule

Dates:

❏ ALL STUDENTS- Thursday, May 7

❏ MAKE UP DATE- Friday, May 8

Location: Valerius Parking Lot (where student pick up occurs)

Schedule*:

❏ 8:00-9:00 Last names that start with A-D

❏ 9:00-10:00 Last names that start with E-H

❏ 10:00-11:00 Last names that start with I-L

❏ 11:00-12:00 Last names that start with M-O

THERE ARE NO PICK UPS FROM 12-1 due to Grab'n'Go Meals

❏ 1-2:00 Last names that start with P-R

❏ 2:00-3:00 Last names that start with S-U

❏ 3:00-4:00 Last names that start with V-Z

❏ 4:00-5:00 Anyone who needs this later time

* If you cannot make the time listed for your last name, please pick the time that works best for you and your family.

**If you cannot make any of these times work on Thursday, May 7th, please plan to come on Friday, May 8th between 8am-12pm.

Process:

Enter the Valerius parking lot and follow the typical drop off/pick up traffic pattern. Stay in your vehicle. A staff member will be by the drop off lane to walkie your student’s last name inside.

○ If possible, have your student’s name(s) clearly written on a piece of paper to hold up for the greeters to read. If not, a staff member will make one for you and put it on your windshield under the wiper.

Stay in your vehicle and proceed to the north doors (gym doors). A staff member will bring your materials out. Please have the trunk of your vehicle open. The staff member will place your student materials in your trunk. If you do not open your trunk the staff member will place the box on the ground beside your vehicle.

○ Please bring library books, book folders, or classroom library books to drop off at school. Have those pre-bagged (if possible) and labeled, then hand them to the staff member who brings your materials. Once you receive your materials, please exit the parking lot.

KINDNESS CHALLENGE REMINDER!

I am trying to create something special for the last day of school!

I would love to see a picture and hear about the ways that students are continuing to spread Kindness to your family and the world around you. If you could take a picture of something your student has done or is doing with a short one to two sentences about it and send it to my email colem@urbandaleschools.com I will work on a special project for the end of the year! Thank you to those who have shared with me already! Keep them coming!

In Case You Missed It

As we consider all of the changes and new routines we’re all adjusting to, the one thing that remains constant is our Urbandale community pride. This is why the Urbandale Education Foundation (UEF) has partnered with Plaza Printers to create yard signs that recognize our remarkable Urbandale High School Class of 2020, our dedicated teachers, and our resilient students. Yard signs will be available to proudly display during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4 – 8) and beyond!

Purchasing a sign will enable you to not only show your Urbandale spirit, but support the Urbandale Food Pantry and the Urbandale Education Foundation as a portion of every sign purchase will directly support both organizations ($4 will support the Urbandale Food Pantry; $4 will support the UEF). The Urbandale Food Pantry provides food assistance to those in need and the Urbandale Education Foundation provides student scholarships and classroom grants throughout the Urbandale Community School District. The Urbandale Alumni Association and Urbandale Dollars for Scholars are also part of the UEF.

Online ordering is available now through May 14 . Signs ordered by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, may be picked up at the UHS parking lot on Sunday, May 3. We’ll follow physical distancing practices at the UHS parking lot by using a drive-thru process where signs will be brought to you in your car (more specifics to follow). Signs ordered between April 29 – May 14, may be picked up at Plaza Printers on May 21 (Note: Plaza has a drive-thru pick-up window for your convenience.). All orders must be placed by May 14.
