Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences will continue through the end of this week. The partnership between home and school is critical to providing the best support possible for your child. Thank you for doing everything you can to attend your child's parent-teacher conference!
SHINE T-shirts for Sale This Week!
The PTSA will be selling our 2021-22 SHINE t-shirts every day after school this week! This year's SHINE shirts are black with a white logo. They sell for $7. There will also be other merchandise (e.g., SHINE shirts from previous years, sweatshirts, bags) for sale, as available and as time allows. NOTE: Families MUST park and come up to the sales table to make any purchases. Parking is not permitted in the drive-thru area.
Scholastic Book Fair is OPEN!
The Scholastic Book Fair begins this week! There are several ways to participate in the book fair:
- Preview books with your child! Interactive book fair flyers let you preview some of the books that will be available. There are book trailers and author interviews! Click on the grade-level flyer, scroll through the pages, and click on the purple play icons to learn more about each book.
- Grade K-5 interactive flyer
- Grade 6-8 interactive flyer - Have your child shop the book fair during the school day Each class has a scheduled date/time for their classroom visit. If you send cash with your child, please be sure it is secured in a safe place. You may also set up an eWallet fund for your child. - Shop the book fair in-person! We're open to parents/families every day this week. See below for our hours. NOTE: Masks must be worn indoors.
- Shop the Scholastic Store Online for an expanded selection of exclusives, new releases, value packs, and more. All orders ship home and book-only orders over $25 ship free. Every purchase benefits our school and helps develop a love of reading. NOTE: Buy One, Get One pricing is not applicable online.
The book fair hours are:
- Students - All students will preview the book fair on Monday. There will be no purchases at this time. Each class then has an additional time for students to visit later in the week. The book fair will also be open at recess and after school for HEART students.
- Families - The book fair is open to family members each day from 1:00-2:30 p.m. and from 1:00-3:00 and 4:00-6:00 on Tuesday (11/16).

Homework Help!
The VUSD After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance is lead by certificated VUSD teachers. For more information and to access the tutoring Zoom links, visit: www.vusd.org/aaa.
Welcome back, Ms. Duarte!
Ms. Duarte's kinder students are clearly spellbound by their teacher's return! We are thankful to Ms. Lewright for her hard work and commitment to our students over the last few weeks.
The Scholastic Book Fair Arrived
Students were super excited to see the big Scholastic Book Fair truck pull into our driveway last week. The driver came all the way from Los Angeles. Making great things happen for students takes a big team!
GLC Garden Upgrade
We're getting our school garden ready to implement the ideas and designs being created by our grade 5/6 students as part of their Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit!
Global Learning Charter School
Global Learning Charter School (GLC) is a public charter school committed to offering relevant, personalized learning opportunities to prepare students to be global-ready in work and life. GLC opened in August of 2017. Currently, we serve approximately 440 students in grades K-8.
