We have exciting In Our Own Words features for you this week. We're thrilled to introduce you to Sofia, who attends the Heights and is a member of the Student Advisory. We're grateful to Sofia for sharing her story with us - you won't want to miss it!

We also recently checked in with Mark, one of the amazing members of our transportation team, to chat about what he loves most about helping students to and from school on his bus. We couldn't be more grateful for everything he does for our students. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us, Mark!

We're thrilled to introduce you to Tracie Barrows, from our VPS Board of Directors. Tracie brings a wealth of experience to the table. She has worked as a school psychologist for over ten years. She has been part of the Vancouver community since 2009 and has served on the VPS Board of Directors since 2019.

Mario Barba, a dual-language coach at King Elementary, recently had a conversation with Tracie to get to know her better. They talked about Tracie's vision for VPS and what matters most to her as a Board Director.

We greatly appreciate your participation in the Panorama Surveys, as we gather data that directly informs what we teach in our social and emotional learning lessons.

Social and emotional learning is a process of building awareness and skills in managing emotions, setting goals, establishing relationships and making responsible decisions that support success in school and in life. It helps students with the basics, like getting along with others and getting through the school day effectively.

When we receive input from only a small group of students and families, we may need to fill in gaps or generalize information and apply it to all students. This is why your thoughts and feelings are extremely valuable in identifying areas where our students may need extra help and how we can support them best.

Family Survey

The Family Panorama Survey will be available until June 15. Families may complete a survey for each enrolled child. The Family survey is 41 questions and is estimated to take approximately 14 minutes to complete.

This month, we will also be asking your student to take part in the Panorama Surveys at school. Please encourage your student to participate.

Les agradecemos sumamente su participación en las encuestas de “Panorama” mediante las que reunimos datos que nos informan qué enseñar en nuestras lecciones sobre el aprendizaje socio-emocional.

El aprendizaje socio-emocional es un proceso mediante el cual se forman conocimiento y habilidades para manejar emociones, establecer metas, desarrollar relaciones y tomar decisiones responsables que apoyan el éxito en la escuela y en la vida. Les ayuda a los estudiantes desarrollar habilidades básicas tales como llevarse bien con otros y manejar la jornada escolar exitosamente.

Cuando recibimos las opiniones de solo un grupo pequeño de estudiantes y familias, necesitamos llenar las faltas de datos o generalizar información y aplicarla a todos los estudiantes. Esta es la razón por la cual sus pensamientos y sentimientos son extremadamante valiosos, ya que identifican áreas en las que nuestros estudiantes podrían necesitar ayuda extra y cómo apoyarlos de la mejor manera posible.

Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para participar y ayudarnos a ayudar a su hijo/a.

La Encuesta de Panorama para la Familia estará disponible hasta el 15 de junio. Las Familias pueden completar una encuesta para cada niño inscrito en nuestra distrito. La Encuesta para la Familia se compone de 41 preguntas y toma aproximadamente 14 minutos para completarla.*

Социально-эмоциональное обучение (SEL) – это процесс изучения и развития навыков управления эмоциями, постановки целей, установления отношений и принятия ответственных решений, которые помогают добиться успеха в школе и в жизни. Это помогает ученикам освоить такие основы, как поддержание хороших отношений с другими и умение эффективно справляться с занятиями в течение школьного дня.

Если мы получаем ответы только от небольшой группы учеников и семей, нам может понадобиться восполнить пробелы или обобщить информацию и распространить её на всех учеников. Поэтому Ваши мнения, мысли и чувства чрезвычайно важны для выявления тем и разделов, с которыми ученикам может понадобиться дополнительная помощь, и того, как мы можем поддержать их наилучшим образом.

Спасибо за то, что Вы уделили время для заполнения анкет и за то, что Вы помогаете нам помогать Вашему ученику.

Анкета для семьи

Эту анкету можно будет заполнять до 15 июня. Семьи могут заполнить анкету на каждого зачисленного в школу ученика. В анкету для семей входит 41 вопрос, и у Вас займёт примерно 14 минут, чтобы на них ответить.
