Concert Band Students and Families,
If you are receiving this email, your student will be attending the North Texas Festival Distinction trip this Friday, 4/25. Please be sure those both parents and students read the newsletter and know the schedule for the next 2 weeks!
Next 2 Weeks Schedule
North Texas Festival of Distinction Trip - Friday, April 25
Schedule:
- 5:30 - 5:40 AM: Drop off your student at Wiley MS wearing their Concert Uniform
- 5:45: Meeting with all students
- 6:40: Load buses and depart for Fort Worth area
- 9:30: Arrive @ Richland High School
- 10:45: watch Beginner Select Band Performs
- 11:00: Load buses and depart for Haltom High School
- 12:15: Concert Band Performance @ Haltom High School
- Friends and family are welcome to attend!
- Address: 5501 Haltom Rd, Haltom City, TX 76137
- 12:45: load buses and depart for Richland High School
- 1:15: watch Wind Ensemble performance @ Richland High School
- 2:30: Eat pizza + play unlimited bowling, laser tag, go kart racing, mini golf, and arcade games @ AlleyCats
- If your student cannot eat pizza, they should bring their own food
- Students will have a game card preloaded with $15
- 4:30: load buses and depart for Leander
- 7:30 - 7:45 PM: pick your student up at Wiley MS
- Show up wearing full concert uniform
- Official Wiley Band Shirt + shorts/pants + change of shoes to wear at AlleyCats
- Instrument / band binder / instrument accessories
- Highly Recommend snacks / drinks with sealed lids for bus ride
- Optional electronic entertainment like phones, tablets, headphones, etc for bus ride
- Wiley Band is NOT responsible for any lost or damaged electronic devices nor will we alter our travel schedule for lost items – students are responsible for taking care of their own belongings
- Optional extra money if they want to load their AlleyCats game card beyond the automatic $15 it will be preloaded with
Trip cost:
- $30 per student: PAY HERE
- We were able to cover the majority of the trip cost with Cookie Dough Fundraiser profits, but not all of it. If you need financial assistance, please reply to let me know and we will get it covered
Prescription Medication:
- If your student requires prescription medication, you will need to fill out BOTH sides of this PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION FORM, get a physician to sign it, and turn in the printed form and medication to Mrs. Davidson on the morning of the trip. We are no longer allowed to administer any over the counter medication.
Band Placement Auditions Videos due May 9
for current 7th graders going into 8th grade:
Standards requirements for each band based on instrument
Audition Videos due Friday, May 9 via Google Classroom assignment
Video record yourself playing all the scales you know + Chromatic
See skills and standards link for requirements for each band based on your instrument
Percussion: refer to Mr. Sparling for your audition requirements
Band Placement Interviews during 3rd per, May 6 - May 14
Band Placements Announced on Friday, May 23
Saturday, May 3: Solo and Ensemble
Coming up in 2 weeks on Saturday, May 3rd!
At Danielson Middle School in Leander between 8:30 - 3:30pm
Your student will have an individual performance time and will only be at the event for about 45 min total
Required all students
Students should dress fancy (no t-shirts, jeans, athletic shorts/pants, pajamas, sweats, crocs, or sneakers)...Concert Band uniform works great
Students will be notified of their performance time at the end of this week

- drop off by 7:30am
🔴 Friday, 4/25: NORTH TEXAS FESTIVAL OF DISTINCTION (NTFD) PERFORMANCE
- 12:15pm performance time @ Haltom High School
We will depart from school early in the morning and arrive back in the evening, approximately 6am - 7pm

Saturday, 5/3: Leander ISD Solo and Ensemble Festival

- 5:00 - 7:00pm
- for all 8th graders
- Friday, 5/16: Wiley Band Typhoon Texas Trip
- during school day
- students must perform at NTFD, Solo Festival on 5/3, have passed all of their 5th 6 weeks classes to attend, and have not received more than one ISS placement this year
