Message from Principal Phelan
Greetings Lowell School,
We did it! We have successfully moved! February turned out to be the busiest month of the year! Our staff and custodians accomplished the arduous task of moving into two new buildings in a relatively short time. We are so thankful to our families for keeping our spirits high throughout the past month.
Our goal this week is to reestablish routines, set expectations for our new school environment, and support our students to feel comfortable and safe in their new school.
We've spent many hours planning our new systems and structures; Monday will be the first day of school all over again. I've read that It can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit and an average of 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. Keeping this wisdom in mind, I think it will take us all a little time to get accustomed to our new morning routines, school environment, and daily schedules. An essential ingredient is to allow for a little extra time. Then you want to sprinkle a little patience on top.
I couldn't be happier knowing we've finally completed the move. Now it's time to restart the work of teaching and learning.
If you need to contact anyone on our staff, it's best to email us. Please reach out if you have any concerns.
Thank you again for all your support!
With a grateful heart!
Mrs. Phelan

Spanish Project in First Grade, "Mi Escuela Lowell"
First-grade classes created books in Spanish class. The project was called "Mi Escuela Lowell," and the books were displayed in the library last week. The students worked hard on these books, and they were excited to share them with the school community.

The Cruz kids say Happy Retirement to Fred the crossing guard.
We have had the pleasure of seeing Fred our crossing guard for the past 6 years every school day. He has been a fantastic presence and we will miss him dearly after his retirement today.
Someone wonderfully set up these signs and balloons and he received many cards as we bid him goodbye today.
We hope to see him around town and wish him all the best. I wanted to be sure to share our appreciation for a wonderful community member.
Buddies meet-up one last time before the move. Ms. Connors/Ms. Master's K are the little Buddies to Ms. Antonelli's Third Grade.

Parents' Recreational Softball League
A group of parents is trying to put together a recreational softball league for parents of kids in the Watertown schools. The idea is for it to be super relaxed and open to people of all skill levels. Teams would be school-based to give parents a fun opportunity to socialize and build community with other parents at their kid’s school.
If you might be interested in participating (or, even better, helping to organize!), please fill out the Google Doc below
