Schwenksville Family Newsletter
October 6, 2023
Dear SW Families,
Hello!
Please note: The Bell Run has been postponed to Tuesday, October 10th. This decision was made in consultation with teachers and our Home and School Association. Although it doesn't look like we will get a lot of rain, even if it is misty or drizzling, it would be pretty uncomfortable for students to go through their day wet or damp. Thank you for your understanding. We hope that many parents/guardians are able to attend as volunteers or spectators next week!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Take care and be well,
Mrs. Venza

Bell Run Fundraiser - POSTPONED to 10/10/23
BELL RUN UPDATE: due to rain in the forecast we had to make the difficult decision to POSTPONE the event to the rain date of TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10th.
The schedule will remain the same however we really need more volunteers for Tuesday so if you already have your clearances, please consider helping for an hour to tally laps while your child is running around the circle. https://tinyurl.com/mvktyhhf
Spectators are welcome and please donate if you can. Thank you to everyone who's contributed so far as well as signed up to volunteer. We couldn't do this event without you!
Schedule:
9-9:50: 4th and 3rd Grades
10-10:30: K-AM
10-10:50: 1st Grade
11:30-12:30 Volunteer Lunch
12:40-1:30: 5th Grade
1:40-2:10: K-PM
1:40-2:30: 2nd Grade
This decision was made in consultation with teachers and our Home and School Association. Although it doesn't look like we will get a lot of rain, even if it is misty or drizzling, it would be pretty uncomfortable for students to go through their day wet or damp. Thank you for your understanding.

SW's First Annual Health and Wellness Fair
Tuesday, October 10th - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - SW Gym/Cafeteria
Schwenksville Elementary is excited about our new event! Families will be invited to visit our gym and learn about different ways to focus on both their physical and mental health. There will be many local providers and businesses sharing their information. Students (and families) can engage in CPR demonstrations, learn about healthy eating habits, experience karate, play pickleball and more!
School Store
We have a wonderful opportunity to provide the students with a School Store. We sell pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, folders, headphones, novelty items etc. Our items range in price from $0.05 to $3.00. We encourage students to only purchase one or two items. The proceeds remain here at Schwenksville Elementary and help to provide rewards for our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
The School Store will be opening for students on Thursday, October 12 from 8:30am-9:00am.
Please follow this School Store Schedule. Each grade level will only have ONE day per month to shop. However, students from any grade, who choose the option to receive a School Store item reward, may redeem their Bell Reward coupon on any Thursday. The coupon is given to the classroom teacher to pass out to the student. At this time, the school store is only open for Kindergarten students to select their Bell Reward. Unfortunately, the school store will not open if we have an inclement weather delay.
We will be located on the corner across from the library, where students enter for class. For
parents/guardians that have their clearances and are interested in volunteering, please contact me by completing the School Store Google form.
Grade 5 Student Helpers- Please let your students know, I am looking for School Store helpers
to count money, help with purchases, collect money and make change, etc. Their teachers will
post a link in their Google Classroom for interested students to complete.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you,
Mrs. Wendy Town

Library Legacy Book Program
We would like to introduce you to a wonderful program in the library—our Library Legacy Book Program. This program allows you to donate $20.00 to our school library so we can purchase a book in honor of your child’s birthday, a special occasion, just because, or in memory of a loved one. This allows you to do something special for your child and our school at the same time. When you make a monetary donation, we will do the following:
- Put a personalized bookplate in the front of the book with your child’s name.
- Present the book to your child
- Your child will be the first to check out the brand-new book
If you are interested in participating in this program, which is optional, please fill out the form below and return the form and payment ($20.00) to the library at any time. If it’s for a birthday, please return the form at least a month before you want it presented. We love to get the forms at the beginning of the year for our planning purposes. We will start presenting books in October. If your child’s birthday or the date you choose is in June, July, August, or September, we will celebrate on their “half-year” birthday.
An average library book, including special binding, processing, and shipping, is $20.00. We ask for a monetary donation from you rather than a book donation. Prior to the month of the book presentation, we will have your child select their book from a wide choice of brand-new library books, and the book will be presented in front of the class.
Please include payment when you sign up. This simplifies the process and allows us to order books ahead of time. Please make checks payable to “Schwenksville Elementary.” If you don’t choose to sign up now, this form will remain on the website throughout the year if you change your mind. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Overholser (moverholser@pvsd.org)!
