Board of Trustees Approves $500 Retention Bonuses for Staff
At the December 11, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Trustees, the board unanimously voted to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of Belton ISD’s staff by approving an expenditure of a one-time $500 retention bonus for all regular employees. Trustee Janet Leigh stated, “This is a privilege to be able to do this for our staff.” This decision reflects the board's appreciation for the valuable contributions of the district’s personnel despite the lack of funding from the legislature. The board recognizes the critical role that educators and support staff play in shaping each and every student’s educational experience. Secretary Erin Bass stated, “Everyone is worth this investment because everyone has an impact on our students.”
Trustee Jeff Norwood stated, “The greatest resource we have is our people. The state of Texas has decided to hold staff hostage. We are going to take $1.3 million and give it back to our staff. I wish it could be more. We just appreciate all that they do. We will continue to work with the state to get you the raise you deserve.” Vice President Chris Flor echoed their sentiment and stated, “This is a continued investment in our staff.”
