The Talbot County Board of Education is accepting applications for the Superintendent of Schools. The Board conducted a Stakeholder Input Survey for staff, students, families, and the general public to provide input to develop candidate characteristics. The information received from the survey was used to develop advertising, candidate characteristics, and interview questions.

The Board has also developed the following timeline:

• February 21, 2022 – Application materials will be made available
• March 29, 2022 – Application deadline for first consideration
• April – May 2022 – Interviews will be conducted
• Spring 2022 – The Board will approve the Superintendent contract at a regularly
scheduled board meeting
• July 1, 2022 – The Superintendent begins

NHS is a national organization established in 1921, which serves to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Eligibility is open to juniors and seniors with a 3.2 GPA and 75 service learning hours completed. Those students receive an application to submit, which goes before a Staff Review Committee comprised of teachers, club advisors, and coaches to review and select students. Selection is based on the 4 NHS Principles: Character, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship.

EHS held an induction of new members who applied in the Fall of 2021 with their first “in-person” ceremony since 2019. Another induction will take place in late April for Spring 2022 applicants.

The Easton Middle School Band, under the direction of Donna Ewing, earned an overall SUPERIOR RATING at the Eastern Shore Band Directors Association Band Festival!

There were 14 middle school bands participating and EMS was 1 of 3 bands to earn a Superior Rating!! Great job EMS 7th & 8th grade Band Members!

Congratulations to our TCPS artists whose work was selected to be submitted for the First Lady's Virtual Spring Art Gallery. "Dragonfly" by Jesse Watts and "Frog" by Ollie West are both included in the 3-D Virtual Gallery! #TCPSproud

Youth Mental Health First Aid USA is an eight-hour public education program that introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health programs in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. The program uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

We will be hosting the following upcoming Youth Mental Health First Aid training:

TESTING INFORMATION

• COVID testing site at UM Shore Medical Pavilion, 500 Cadmus Lane Easton MD 21601. Drive Through. Open Monday-Sunday 9 AM to 3 PM. PCR tests with results in 24-48 hours.
• The Health Department is still testing at their test site at 28712 Glebe Road Easton MD 21601 Monday through Friday 9 AM to 2:30 PM. Appointments are required and do fill up very fast. You can call 410-819-5632 to make an appointment.

• Where: Talbot County Vaccine Center, 102 Marlboro Ave Easton MD
• When: Monday through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM

5-11-year-olds on Fridays, no appointment required

· Who: Anyone 5 years old and older

5-11-year-olds are eligible for their Pfizer vaccine which is available on Fridays, no appointment required

• Pfizer: Anyone 12 years and older
• Moderna: Anyone 18 years and older
• J&J: Anyone 18 years and older

BOOSTER

Anyone 12 years and older who is at least 5 months after their second shot

Bullying and cyberbullying, harassment and intimidation, hazing, and/or bias behaviors are unsafe behaviors that do not reflect respect for others as defined by Policy 10.16 on STUDENT CONDUCT – BULLYING, HARASSMENT OR INTIMIDATION . If a student is a target of one of these behaviors, you can report it using the Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Reporting Form (linked below).

The form is also available at all schools, in the main office and the school’s counseling office. Students can also report issues directly to a staff member. When a situation that involves any of these behaviors is reported, staff members will respond quickly and will provide a practical, private, and safe place to report.
