Happy Summer!!
Jefferson Families,
It is the first day of June and hopefully the first of many wonderful summer days for your family. Enjoy the beautiful weather and your favorite activities. Stay safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing many of back at Jefferson in the fall.
Blessings to all of you!
Student Laptops
Many of you have been asking question about student computers. Students will be allowed to keep their Chromebooks this summer and bring them back in the fall. We hope this gives them the chance to continue with some online learning opportunities. The Pella Community School learning hub will stay online throughout the summer. Some of the links will need to be taken down by the end of June because of agreements with the companies that provided the resources. There are still plenty of good online resources for students.
We will continue to use the GoGuardian software to monitor the computer usage of each student. Our students did a great job throughout the spring of using their computers for appropriate school related work. If students do choose to search for inappropriate materials or use their computer in an inappropriate manner their access will be shut down.
The following is information from the technology department to help preserve the battery life on the computers.
- Students, we ask that you try to maintain the battery health on your computer the best you can during the summer months. The best way to do this is to charge it fully and then turn it on for 10 minutes before turning it off. Repeat this process once a week. The situation we want to avoid more than anything is allowing your battery to completely die and then having the computer sit for a long period of time. Doing this will result in a bad battery and a computer that may not turn on again in the fall.
- To turn off the computer, we ask that you actually power the device down rather than just shutting the lid. This will help your battery as well. You can find the power options by clicking in the clock area on your desktop and then choosing the power icon in the menu that appears. Doing this will maintain your battery health, and will help you and the IT department avoid battery issues when you return to school in the fall.
