Chester Clippers Boys Sweep the 1st Inaugural New Year's Classic
The Lady Clippers hosted the Executive Chart Raptors with Executive Charter winning the JV contest and the Chester won the Varsity game. The Clippers boys won the JV and Varsity games against Constitution. Sophomore Jalen Harris hits a baseline floater with 2.3 seconds on the clock giving the Clippers (8-1) a 65-64 victory over the visiting Constitution (8-3) Generals. Chester finished the contest with four players in double figures, three establishing new career highs including Dallas Thompson with 16, Calvin Williams with 14 and Jalen Harris with 13. Dante Atkinson finished with 11 points. Both Dallas and Dante fouled out of the contest in the fourth quarter. Jalen also finished the contest with 2 blocked shots, 1 assist and 1 steal. Calvin Williams was awarded game MVP finishing with 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The Clippers will return to league play on Tuesday, January 9, with the Academy Park Knights visit the Clip Joint. The JV will tip off at 5:30 pm with the Varsity to follow.
JV Game Recap:
Chester rebounded from Thursday's defeat with a convincing 67-40 thrashing of the Constitution Generals. Ra'Shaad Dorsey was named game MVP after entertaining the crowd with four monstrous dunks on the way to a co-game high 14 points. Kameron Wilson wooed the crowd with four treys enroute to his 14 points. The game was never in doubt as the Clippers lead from start to finish outscoring their opponents in each quarter.
Lady Clippers Beat Executive Charter
The Chester Clippers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Executive Education Charter Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-45 victory at home. With that win, Chester brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Imani Dorsey, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The contest was Dorsey's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Ja'Mya Muhammad was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Chester, bringing their record for this year to 4-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Executive Education Academy Charter School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chester will take on Academy Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy Park is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Executive Education Academy Charter School is on the road again on Monday and play against Chichester at 3:00 p.m. on January 8th. Chichester comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
