Message From Principal Zimmerman
Hello Lincoln Families,
Thank you to all of our families for your support during conferences this fall. We had an amazing number of families attend conferences in October. As a staff, we value strong relationships between home and school, as we know that this connection supports student learning and our entire school community. In addition to attending conferences, we encourage families to consider attending one of the Lincoln PTO meetings, as another way to strengthen the home-school relationship. The next Lincoln PTO meeting will be held on November 10th at 6:00.
On Friday, October 28, Lincoln students had the opportunity to walk in Anoka Halloween’s “Big Parade of Little People”. This is a long standing Anoka tradition, and we are fortunate to have the chance to participate in this fun event every year!
There are amazing things happening at Lincoln. All of the teachers and staff are working hard to help your children feel valued, safe and successful at school. With your support, we will continue to do great things for every student at Lincoln!

Hello Lincoln Families!
We have finished adding to our river of rocks, which is located outside door 1. Check it out next time you are at school! There are some beautiful and creative rocks with positive messages of love and affirmation!
All students in grades K-5 had the opportunity to create a poster for the district kindness poster contest to highlight National Bullying Prevention month in October. The theme was “There is Power in Kindness” and our students portrayed the power of kindness with their art! Way to go!
Staff are excitedly planning our first Arts Jam of the year for Tues., Nov. 22. All K-5 students will engage in a day of ARTS, participating in 4 sessions throughout the day, exploring and creating with a variety of art forms, including visual art, music, dance, book arts, and technical arts. If you are interested in volunteering to support the day, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Diana Orr. Thank you!

Christmas Committee
About the Christmas Committee
Each year hundreds of community volunteers work together to ensure that all northern Anoka County residents will have food on their tables for the holidays and their children will have gifts under their Christmas tree. We started in 1981 and now each year we provide brighter holidays for over 900 Anoka County households with more than 2,000 children.
How They Help
Food, new toys, new books and money donations are collected through drives at many area schools, drop sites at area businesses, and through generous financial contributions from local businesses and individuals. The Toys for Joy drive collects donations within Anoka County. The local members of the St. Paul Area Association of Realtors buy hundreds of toys. The Toys for Tots, organized by the Marine Corps, provides the rest of the toys we distribute.
You Can Help
We need volunteers Dec. 14, 15, 16 setup; Distribution Dec. 19th and 20th, 2022. The Christmas Committee welcomes donations of food, new toys, new books and cash. At least as valuable is volunteer time from individuals or groups. Please contact us if you wish to help.

Winter Weather Reminders
Minnesota weather is shifting gears, and the Anoka-Hennepin School District has plans in place for when extreme winter weather arrives.
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in adverse weather. If a determination is made to close school due to extreme winter weather, the district will alert families in a variety of ways, including:
Phone, text or email message from AHlert system (for Anoka-Hennepin parents/guardians only).
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
Those responsible for activities scheduled in schools over the weekend will determine if adverse weather conditions necessitate a cancellation.
Read more about the district’s policies on extreme winter weather at ahschools.us/weather.
Promoting health and wellness in school, early influenza season
Minnesota is starting to see an uptick in flu cases, according to new data from the state department of health. Now is the perfect opportunity to remind your students about healthy habits to prevent the spread of germs and illness. Use these conversation tips at home to stay healthy this school year:
Wash hands frequently: Scrub hands and fingers with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds.
Cover coughs and sneezes: Use an elbow or a tissue.
Avoid touching your face: Germs can enter your body through your eyes, nose and mouth.
Practice healthy eating habits: Food is your body’s fuel. Choosing well-balanced meals boosts energy and health. Avoid sharing food/drinks/utensils with others.
Get plenty of rest: Sleep is important and restores your mind and body.
When to stay home
Ensuring schools are safe and healthy for all students is the first priority for Anoka-Hennepin. If your child does get sick, keep them home from school so they don’t share their illness with others. Reference school district guidelines to help with this decision:
If a student has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, the student must stay home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal without fever reducing medication.
If a student has vomited or had diarrhea, the student must stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.
If a student has had any rash that may be disease-related or the cause is unknown, check with your family physician before sending the student to school.
If a student is ill, please call the school daily to report the illness.
